Ayres Rock is just a geological feature, nobody built it.

War memorials were built for a very specific reason and are also there to honor fallen Aboriginal soldiers.

Find a better analogy.

I don't care if it was man made or not. Ayers rock holds spiritual significance to many aboriginals.   That they didn't build their temples, and instead relied on nature as their temple, doesn't make it any less important to them.

As i was saying about LW Progs and shallow thinkers, funnily enough they stand up for Aboriginal spiritual/religious rights etc, but don't give a damn when it comes to things like... oh I don't know...   traditional marriage?  Cheesy Grin Roll Eyes

There is nothing out there but a Hollywood selfie!

Think, there is no f'n water out there so you're a lunatic to think it's cool to visit certain death!

Do you respect the views of Aborigines who don't want the rock climbed, as well as the views of non-Aborigines who want to climb it?

Is that a case of one or the other?

A. For most people, marriage has nothing to do with the church
B. no one says your church has to marry gays. Your spiritual beliefs are being respected.

That doesn't however give you the right to tell me what I can and can't do with my beliefs.

Don't talk nonsense, smith - anyone who climbed on the ANZAC Memorial would be arrested.

EXACTLY

But the Anzac memorial isnt JUST A ROCK is it?

you decide what's sacred to you, they decide what is sacred to them.

If someone is stooopid enough to climb over ANY building, they would be arrested

Not for desecration of the site, but for shere stooopidity

Building are meant to be lived in or visited, not climbed.

Again......Ayres rock is......A ROCK

I think you'll find that the government was ultimately responsible for this decision.

Do you disagree with Pecca's claim that we can have it both ways?
