It seems like a big case of who you know, what you know. And the police not doing their duty, for which they're payed by the taxpayer.

Whilst I agree this is dereliction of duty on behalf of the police, if the Premiers wife was sober, what difference would an RBT have made?

It wasn't an RBT. It was for a breath test after an accident.

I don't know about Victoria, but most jurisdictions make it illegal to refuse a breath test.  Doesn't matter if you are sober or not. You try refusing an RBT and see whether they let you off.

Sorry, my mistake in stating RBT, it was a compulsory breath test that wasn't enforced by the police.

even more reason to take a breath test..

The father of the 15-year-old cyclist injured in the crash confirmed to the Herald Sun that he was still waiting to hear from the Premier and his wife more than four years later.
The boy was taken to the Royal Children’s Hospital, where he underwent surgery to stem internal bleeding, also suffering a punctured lung, broken ribs and cuts.

Vic police nothing surprises me there.. Angry

A correction to the Title is necessary.  At the relevant time, the woman was not a then current Premier's Wife.

And the police involved have been disciplined for this error. I realise that Bolt loves his political witch hunts but the only party at fault here were the police.

Amazingly incredible that the one time a copper "forgot" to do their simple job.....it was a Labor politicians wife......but never mind, the officers have undergone extra training so nothing to see here. Move on.

Clearly not all animals are equal.....as a truckie all the times I've been pulled over by Vic Pol or Vic Roads I've  never seen them forget to check any thing, infact they tend to keep on checking until they do find something, like a loose wire to a clearance light, then its  "ah hah... see another irresponsible unroadworthy truck,....hero's one and all.....how strange is that?

The bullshit argument here is that the (future) wife of the Premier had an accident whilst she was drunk and the police let her off....The implication is that political influence was used to get off a serious driving offence....There are also those who claim there are different standards for those on the left as opposed to the right....

Exhibit A

Quote:
Former WA treasurer Troy Buswell's chief of staff attempted to deliberately conceal crucial details about her boss's late night crash in a ministerial car, a report by the state's corruption watchdog has found.

Damn right she should have been breath tested!  The fact that she wasn’t should lay firmly on not only the police and their leadership, but the minister for police at the time    Now which government was in charge of Victoria when this occurred and should have demanded an explanation of why and how this failure occurred?

There is a hyper enforcement of laws and rules and regulations against the ordinary citizen, the majority, but a different approach taken with a minority of power or influence.
This is what is disturbing. Seemingly just another case of preferential, indeed deferential, treatment.
