Distance from the node: HOW RELEVANT will it be?

You cant upgrade if you are  too far from the node.

That's an interesting point: so, when do people find out their distance from the node?

Will the interweb chat sites eventually piece together who is where from what node and house prices will eventually come to reflect that because everyone is on top of the scam perpetrated by tony abbott for short term political gain?

Time will tell..................................................  Shocked

I'm not sure it is.

No matter how far you are from the node, you can still upgrade to a different tier if you like.

Clear as mud.

There are four tiers (speeds).

12 - slow, best for just phone and minimal internet use.

25 - good enough for most people using internet and watching Netflix.

50 - good for larger families, with lots of TVs and internet devices being used at once.

100 - very fast, good for small businesses.

I've been using '25' for about three years, and have no problems.

Everyone I know uses '25', and it seems to be adequate.

However, as files get larger, and movies get even better in picture and sound quality, I'm sure we'll all need to upgrade to '50'.

It's just a matter of ringing your provider, and then paying an extra $10 (rough guess) a month.

From the NBN site that Greg linked "wholesale speed tiers available to your internet provider vary depending on the access technology in your area"

Funny that this topic comes up today, last weekend I was away with some people who had just sold their home and they tell me that having a fibre to the home service does in fact add value to the home.

The people that they sold to brought their three kids for a look and they went mental when they seen the fibre connection.

Didn't find anything at that link that either confirms or denies that. Just some poor explanations about how it should work.

I do!  All I want is someone to do my home-work and point me to the Man and I'll hand him a cheque, and in exchange, I want, instantly ~ NBN, phone line, mobile for not one cent more than I am paying now for that exact product with which I am happy.

Not gonna happen, is it.
