Don't blame government for lax security
Oct 13th, 2017 at 9:28am

The Federal Government claims they are not responsible for serious security breaches because it could have been a small sub-contractor working for one of the Defence Department's main contractors....So we can rest assured the Government knows nothing and is not responsible in any way???

Quote:
Mr Pyne, who has responsibility for such projects, said while the information was not classified the situation was "not good enough", and was a "salutary reminder to everyone in the industry and the government" of the importance of taking cyber security seriously.

But he said it was a "stretch" to blame the government for the procedures of what could have been a small sub-contractor working for one of the Defence Department's main contractors.

"I don't think you can try and sheet blame for a small enterprise having lax cyber security back to the federal government. That is a stretch," Mr Pyne told ABC Radio National's Breakfast program on Thursday.

Govt. was the ones who outsourced the work.
Govt. is ultimately responsible

It was small sub contractors that killed innocent workers during Labor's home insulation program and the Labor Government was rightly held fully accountable for the failure to properly administer the scheme....Now that National security is at risk the Coalition have taken a different approach to accountability....We know nothing and don't intend to take any responsibility according to Christopher Pyne!!!

So where is the enquiry and subsequent protections to prevent this from happening again....Our primary defence the Joint Strike Fighter might have been compromised and the Minister in charge claims there is nothing to see here....WTF???

Quote:
"I don't know who did it," he told the ABC. "It could be a state actor, a non-state actor, it could have been someone who was working for another company."

Mr Pyne later noted the information collected by the ASD was highly-classified and "we don't necessarily let the public know" about the identities of hackers.

These kinds of attacks were attempted "all the time" and "they are going to be successful on occasion", he said.

Surely warrants a royal commission as to how a shoddy little company who don't even keep their internet security up to date get to access such information. How much was the donation to the liberal party?

Not a word from the Liberal faithful who are too embarrassed to defend the rabble we have in Government....As it was a sub contractor it does not matter who steals our military secrets....The Government is not to blame???
