If there are so many heterosexuals and so few homosexuals why are we looking at changing the act then?
To ensure the rights of a minority.
Let me ask this question, G: it seems to me that the issue of same sex marriage for those opposing it precedes on the basis that of all the social ills that we as a modern society tolerate such as: pornography, capitalism, free media, etc. same sex marriage is the worst. Can you u explain why? Or is SSM just another social I’ll that the right opposes?
Can't help you.
And I mean that on every level.
I do not think or believe what you do.
So, basically, it's just another token that the right is waving to promote its ideology.
If you cannot tell me what makes SSM worst than pornography, rap hip-hop music, capitalism, Miss Universe etc., then maybe your concerns aren't justified?
When racial segregation was legal in America, whites argued that by integrating the blacks it would result in the decay of society. If you look at black/hispanic culture, particularly as expressed through music, you find that much of the music and culture is very misogynistic and paternalistic, and tribal. Such music has led to the hypersexualisation of young women, and has influenced many young black/hispanic men to mistreat other women.
So, the question is: does black/hispanic culture (which also affects Australia) have more or less of an impact on society than SSM? I would argue that it does; BUT I don't believe that we should ban black music or other type of music.
Now, the argument is that 'well, we can't unscramble that egg now; it's too late', so the right is trying to prevent another social ill (supposedly) from taking root.
As I said, just another token.
