The vote is 90% in favor of a separate state.

The Spanish police have been very violent.
It seems like it will end as a civil war.

That video is ugly.
Looks like if they want democracy they will have to fight for it.
This will be a civil war within days.

Whatever happened to 'Cultural Enrichment' and 'Multiculturalism', 'Diversity' and 'Celebrating Difference'?

"Diversity Makes us Stronger" ... etc?

Where are the Spanish Lefties screaming in the streets as they protest against these people rejecting the Cultural-Marxist imperative that says every (white) society should be a 'melting-pot' of different races and ethnicities?

So the EU has to put up with another 'minority' group who wants their own little 'special' place that they can't really afford to be self-sufficient without getting hand-outs from the larger nations.
Before long we will have the Bohemians, Prussians, Karelians, Crimeans and even the Liverpudlians wanting Independence from everyone else.

You don't know much about world politics do you........The King of Spain IS NOT a dictator, the country is a democracy and he is Head of State only in name, the country has a parliament and a PM.

The question of whether Catalonia should be an independent state is purely an internal one, somewhat like Texas, New York, Nevada, California etc in the US are to a certain extent independent of each other.

You should get out more ...... Roll Eyes

This is a ridiculous compassion. USA is a fully democratic country with democratically elected head of state and Senate.
How com those "Head of states only in name" has constitutional right to sack democratically elected prime ministers without parliament approval like in Spain and Britain?.
Did democratically head of state fire Australian prime minister Gough Whitlam 1974.

Gough Whitlam was sacked because the parliament approached the GG and requested he be sacked, and The Queen was very reluctant to involve herself in Australian politics..........

The King of Spain does not decide on government, the people do...........Catalonia is a state which wants independence.......

Safe Nations???

With the collapse of the global economy and the petroleum based economy at the same time, all those little groups will revert to their 'own', and will begin to cast out outsiders and then war on their traditional neighbours.

It's astounding to recall that a 1944 mission from England to Berlin took an aircraft 8-10 hours or more return and now a jet fighter can do it in under half an hour one way, or an hour both ways.

Once the distances become great again, the national characteristics will come to the fore once again, and national rivalries will once again rear their ugly heads...
