So not his land. Somewhere "near it". How "near" is near. Has he been offered a contract of sale?

Please tell us, interested parties want to know.

But it is from Fauxfax, so it could be 200km away. Wink

Is it illegal in Australia for a federal politician to individually and exclusively benefit from a decision of their party in government federally, in a situation where an independent person would describe it as a 'conflict of interest'??
The answer is no I believe.
Not even the emasculated corporate insider trading laws would apply (or some such similar).
What gives??

What a bunch of Drongoes.

Does this mean that every politician in Australia should own nothing, no shares, no house, no super.

All you would be left with would be the disgusting Greens.

Thanks for the gratuitous abuse mate.
It's a wider question of political standards and accountability, which you obviously do not grasp.

a federal politician to individually and exclusively benefit from a decision of their party in government federally, in a situation where an independent person would describe it as a 'conflict of interest'?

Has such a benefit accrued?

Who were the independent persons?

I was asking a question (never answered) and speaking as a general principle.
The fact is that due to secrecy a politician abusing power (and it is like insider trading) IS unlikely to be caught. Google whether that situation is good or bad for democratic institutions.
It is politicians who make the laws. No surprise to me that laws in this matter are vague or non-existent.

Let's see-
Narrabri CSG
Purchased land at Gwabegar, which according to my map is about 100Km away on back roads. More if by main road.
Purchased land Pilliga 99km away, according to one article I read.

So I was out by 100km. I still don't see that as "near".

So do you think I read the article?
