Same-sex marriage: 'Straight lives matter' rally held in Sydney's gay heartland

Dozens of police officers descended on Darlinghurst, in central Sydney, as an anti same-sex marriage rally was held in the city's gay epicentre.

People associated with the "straight lives matter" event at Green Park were outnumbered by counter protesters, who tried to drown out the speeches with chants and horns.

Nick Folkes, who organised the rally, denied the location — about 300m from Sydney's famous Oxford Street strip — was significant.

"Some people have said it's provocative but we're just exercising our democratic right to freedom of speech and freedom of location," he said.

"I have real concerns about not just being about gay marriage, but a much broader agenda.

Yet the rally has nothing to do with Straight Lives. It's about getting publicity for his agenda ... hating gays, hating muslims, hating people of colour ... basically hating anything that moves, that isn't male and white.

Notice when asked, he didn't say how straight lives will be impeded by marriage equality.

The Yes campaign is on the question in the $122 million postal survey, which many are not being delivered.

Nothing about islam. Nothing about white nationalism. Nothing about non caucasian people should be thrown out of Australia.
