Technically speaking I bought an Apple iPhone yest
Sep 22nd, 2017 at 10:12am

erday.

They set it up in the shop to work, and then I trotted around to the Telstra shop where they made all the connections I need with my server etc so that it's ready for me to use without any further ado.

Problem: Buggered if I can do anything with it. I had hoped it was intuitive to operate, but apparently not so, and the asking for passwords is giving me the shìts.

So it's just sitting here on the desk nearly $1,500 full cost. It's heavy enough to be a door stop for my back door ... it's also big enough to be a Frisbee in the backyard.

Such is life.  Tongue

You can even get a Galaxy S5 now for $200,  brand new unlocked.

There's no need for new phones now, using a 2 or 3 year old phone has no virtually no loss of user experience unless your life revolves around gadgets.

That is exactly what I have done for my last two, bought them on Ebay, although last one took a few minutes of googling to work out how to change the language from Chinese to English!  Grin Grin Grin

I need both a new iPhone and a new iPad. Went to Harvey Norman today to purchase same.

Turns out to get the iPhone, you have to do it on a plan through Optus. I'm with telstra. Plus I don't purchase hardware through a plan - I buy it upfront.

You just lost around $2500 in business today Gerry.

I don't know how to use mine.

Most of what's on the Home panel doesn't respond.

I bought mine at the Apple store ... iPhone 7 Plus ... which they set up for me, and then I trotted around to the Telstra store where they set me up with all the connections I need.

I'm going to get the 7. I made the guy in the store run me through the difference between 7 and 8 and it's bollocks!

I'm posting this as a favour for someone who wants you to know this information.

I used to have a non–smart mobile phone. Neat unit, folded up so minimal room.

Then I dropped it in the toilet—accidentally, yes—and it didn’t work so good.

So got another non–smartphone from Telstra. Similar deal HORRIBLE interface. After a while I said bugger it and went to Telstra and bought an iPhone 6. As a niece pointed out, will likely need it once the building of my house starts.

With a couple YouTubes figured it out.

Now Apple has introduced the new 8 and the X.

If you really use your iPhone a lot hold off until the X arrives in a few weeks, Radical improvement!

For me, retired, a 6 does the job, partly pay for it—going mobile only for phone and net.

Pssstt.....we've all got the Apple iPhone 8.

No problems. Yet.

Some people are reporting issues with it though.

I'm not laughing.

The Apple store says they give free tuition on how to work these things, and it looks like I might have to take up their offer.

What's got me stumped is how can I work a desktop computer for 13 years to do everything for me but I can't make any progress with this iPhone 7 Plus?

Tapping those icons at 'Home' rarely brings anything up, and sliding the screen to the side often shows something irrelevant.

A Call Centre 'technician' spent time with me on the phone and came to the conclusion that the phone just might be a faulty one off the production line.

Good luck with the iPhone Herb.   I have used iPhone for years but recently changed to a Samsung.

I hate the grip corporations like Apple and Microsoft try to have on people.   I couldn't even get my music off the iPhone to transfer to the Samsung because Apple don't like that!!   After watching many YouTubes  I finally did it though.

Changing the Samsung from Chinese to English was a bit of a dilemma to begin with but it's all good now.

Maybe try using the iPhone with a stylus?   They are cheap enough.  You can buy three of them, that double as both stylus and a pen,  for under $10 from Kogan and other places.

Thanks, BO.

I'll be all right when I've had more experience with it.

It's impossible for me to explain what the difficulties are without you being right here in person for me to show you. The Call Centre advice went nowhere for the same reason.
