Quote:Yes, we can see the real bigots in the marriage equality debate
EVERY week brings more proof that many same-sex marriage campaigners are the bullies and bigots they claim to oppose.Madlin Sims runs a children’s entertainment company in Canberra and Madeline is a Christian who worked for her, dressed as Minnie Mouse.
I say “worked”, but Madeline volunteered her time on her second shift — a fundraiser for dementia sufferers.
That was her last shift because Sims found Madeline had decorated her Facebook profile picture with
“it’s OK to vote No”, the slogan of the campaign against same-sex marriage.
To Sims it is not OK at all.
“Today I fired a staff member who made it public knowledge that they feel ‘it’s okay to vote No’,” she announced on Facebook. “Advertising your desire to vote no for SSM is, in my eyes, hate speech. Voting no is homophobic.” Sims then vilified the teenager, claiming someone with Madeline’s views was
“a risk to the wellbeing of the children we work with” .
In fact, Madeline seems very caring, telling me: “I am the oldest of eight kids, I have helped in Sunday schools and church camps and kids camps.
“I’m a nanny at the moment. I’ve always worked with children, children are just what I know.
“To be called a homophobe and to say I’m a risk for the children I work with … I highly disagree.”So who is the true bigot and bully here? But Sims is not an isolated example of the
astonishing intolerance of many gay-marriage activists.Again, who are the real bigots? Are they the Christians who handed out free food at Sydney University last week and peacefully urged a no vote?
Or are they the dozens of yes crusaders who screamed that they were bigots, grabbed their signs, tipped over their table, kicked them and threw dye, glitter and food at them?Who were the real bullies at Queensland University this week: the gay student calmly urging a no vote, or the dozens of yes supporters who surrounded him and drowned him out with chanting and shouted abuse?Again: is tennis great Margaret Court, a pastor and charity worker, a bigot for opposing gay marriage?
Or are the real bigots the Cottesloe Tennis Club members who sacked her as co-patron for expressing her opinion? This gay-marriage debate is exposing something sick.
Many activists claim they’re fighting monsters,
but the monsters are themselves.
Monster Poofters... maybe its time they went "back" into their closet... what a bunch of arsewipes...
