My cousin: her daughter(ie my niece) has changed both her first name to a boys and her surname because she really dislikes her Mum (and Dad I'm not sure!!).

She has only been to see her Nan 4 or 5 times in the last few years- which I find really good of her and so ultimately support what she's doing if that's what she wants because she's still the same nice person I remember- but hasn't been to her mums side of the family functions for possibly 7 years or more now.

Sounds to me like she/he could do with a massive hug and lots of counselling.

She's studying psychology.

She's done about 5 years or something.

Just growing up I suppose but she looked a bit sad last time I saw her. She has changed both her first and last names and seems to not be able to tell her family but then she's got a real resentment to her mum so there's a few things going on: but she's dedicated to her studies atleast so she should be alright. Apparently she spends time with her brother and sister so that's good.
