Ruddock new Mayor of Hornsby
Sep 10th, 2017 at 8:40am

Philip Ruddock, one of the best politicians this country has had in decades, has made a return to politics by winning the Mayor's position at Hornsby council by a convincing margin. Smiley

One of the old school who believe in rendering public service whilever they can.
At his age he's not in it for glory or money but for what he can do for his community.
Most admirable.

Yeah, I think you're wrong - yet again. Given his parliamentary pension and other income he gets from speaking, etc, I really doubt he's in it for the money. It's not like he needs it. Clearly, he's put his hand up because he wants to serve the people in his area. Good on him, too!

If that's all you've got, then you can have it. I wouldn't expect you to understand what it feels like to serve others because you simply want to help.

what a load of rubbish. People don't go into politics at 73 because they want to help. They volunteer at soup kitchens, they help out at the hospitals, they deliver meals on wheels.
Ruddock is in it for the glory. He wants the power that the position brings him, his greatest fear is obscurity.

You do understand that he was responsible for the children overboard lie.

The key plank to a liberal election campaign was a blatant lie propagated by this goober.

pigs don't care about needs, for pigs its never enough

If that's all you've got, then you can have it. I wouldn't expect you to understand what it feels like to serve others because you simply want to help.

what a load of rubbish. People don't go into politics at 73 because they want to help. They volunteer at soup kitchens, they help out at the hospitals, they deliver meals on wheels.
Ruddock is in it for the glory. He wants the power that the position brings him, his greatest fear is obscurity.

He is in it, I would guess, because he feels he is the best person for the job and wants to bring his considerable political experience to Hornsby council to help the council and its ratepayers to prosper. Clearly, the majority of voters in Hornsby agree with me, not you.

given your track record of getting things wrong, you'll excuse me if I ignore your opinion Cheesy Cheesy

You going to ignore the opinions of all of the Hornsby ratepayers who voted him in? He did get 3 times as many votes as the person who came in second. You do realise that, don't you?

the people of hornsby would have voted in peppa pig if she were a member of the liberal party

I seriously doubt that. Roll Eyes

You do know that in Mackellar they serially elected her cousin Helicopter Bronwyn ????

You know this article is 3 years old ?

Quote:
could try to “conjure up a version of events” if he became aware of an investigation into a historic rape allegation against him too early.

And it was either historical or hysterical then ?

However it seems that given 3 years to investigate there are no charges, there is usually a reason when that happens.

One of the worst least honest excuses for a government that promised no excuses. The books were in much better order than most countries and better than expected. I the defence of Abbott telling lies you have quoted another example of him doing so. Abbott even promised to not use that as an excuse. Whoops another one.

Better to not quote Abbott I would think it only makes it worse.

Didn't Abbott trump that easily with his 6 lies in 25 words just before the following election.

Wasn't the fixed carbon price easily the best option anyway ????

Didn't John Howard promise that there would never ever be a GST under any government that he led ????

And this is another BIG LIE:

We will adhere to the current policy on border protection.

But the voters know it's a lie before we even get to an election.
So, it won't be a "stop the boats" election, it will be "don't let the boats start again" . . .and you're stuffed!

I admire him for his work in the Howard government, but he was treacherous and voted against Abbott.

I just hope that he stops the subdivision of land around Dural, Galston, Arcadia and Berowra.

The sad thing is though that the Liberals will probably do that one day, given how left they have gone. The Liberals are far more left-wing than the Labor party used to be. Both major parties are now solidly centre-left.

I just hope that he stops the subdivision of land around Dural, Galston, Arcadia and Berowra.

Nobody can stop that except in the short term. It's the inexorable march of time.

Ruddock was one hell of a pollie but looking at him on the hustings, I hope he has the energy to climb the stairs to work

Poor bugger looked like the ghost of Christmas last

Anyhow an old Ruddock is preferable to most of the crud we have going around in local politics these days

The Liberals justifyably called their own leader a Lying rodent and the Following Liberal PM holds the record for lies in one statement.

Tony Abbott promised no cuts to education, health, or the ABC and SBS, and no changes to pensions or the GST, yes that is correct in the lead up to an election Tony managed 6 lies in about 25 words.

That was before he got to see the books and how badly the incompetent Wayne Swan had cooked them. He (Abbott) has said that had he known the true state of the country's finances, he wouldn't have made the promises he did.

what a load of rubbish. He had all the figures well in advance of making any dumb promises. only was/is an idiot who doesn't know when to shut up.

a lot like the maggots in my area. Every single councillor in my area at the least council elections promised to stop efforts (by Jery Harvey and Singleton) to fill Black Swan Lake and use it for a car park for their magic millions. A little over a year later and every single one of the maggots voted in favour of it.

You mean like this one ??

Quote:
Victorian Police had been investigating the matter but confirmed on Thursday that they will not be proceeding with criminal charges.

At a press conference the Labor leader addressed the allegation, which was published on his female accuser's Facebook page several months ago.

"Late last year I learned that a claim had been made about me, going back to when I was 19," Mr Shorten said.

"I will not go into the details, except to say that the allegation was untrue and abhorrent.

"The allegation was made by someone that I knew briefly at that time. There is absolutely no basis to the claim."

Mr Shorten said he cooperated with a police investigation "to clear my name".

"The police have now concluded the investigation. The decision speaks for itself. It is over," he said.
