USA & OZ
Sep 4th, 2017 at 11:38pm

So OZ is 'down under' to the USA
- a term to express a inferior / superior existence.

But.

It seems that the USA went 'back in time' - a replication of the European past. Hence the term 'the West'.
So OZ is the 'future'.

All things equalise.

He who is 'down under' - is also a 'Day Ahead' of the rest.

I have never thought of, or heard of, the term "Down Under" with an association inferiority. As I understood it, a European or an American looking at their own countries on a standard globe, which is tilted on its axis as per the planet, finds Australia and New Zealand down under their locations. I think intelligent people have always seen the up and down in cartography as nothing more than a working convenience.

You have a good point.
But UK/USA see 'down under' much like a sub-forum or something lesser.
The UK see Australia via the 'convict' or lesser people tag.
The USA see Australia like the mail room, not the penthouse. They also see Australia as a continuation of the 'southern' Confederacy. Nothing but a hillbilly place of kangaroos jumping along the harbour bridge.

You obviously can't think for yourself.
Not to mention you don't have what it takes to talk philosophy. Go back to Relationships.  Grin

I don't know if you ever lived in the USA. I spent many years there from 1973 onward, and I never got the impression you have, of their perception of Australia. But its a big country and perhaps I just wasn't talking to the people you were.

No, no. Nothing wrong with your Perception. I'm glad you brought that up. I should have clarified that it is the 'Media induced cultural perception' that I am reacting to. Even though I know that 'many' Americans live different lives and not necessarily 'Media' orientated. Sorry, my bad.
It's a funny world, North & South, East & West.  Wink
