Fathers day stopped for homos

A touching advertisement celebrating Father's Day has been pulled, ahead of the same-sex marriage postal vote.
The clip from fatherhood foundation Dads4Kids will not be screened on television after it was deemed to be too 'political'.
Free TV Australia reportedly informed the not-for-profit group that the ad would not be aired as it 'potentially contained political matter'.

Outrage as broadcasters refuse to show father’s day advertisement

The video sees a father singing a lullaby to his crying child and features a range of dads with children across various stages of their lives.
It include lines such as; 'When you're sleeping safe and sound, you've got the proudest dad in town.'

As well as the lyrics; 'I can't wait to hear you sing, or watch as you put on a wedding ring.'
Alongside the full clip on YouTube, the organisation said they release a new video each year and that the purpose was to 'inspire fathers to love their children and put their families first.'

Dads4Kids released a statement following the ad's removal, saying they were disappointed their simple Father's Day message had become skewed.
'It is extraordinary that this is where we have come to as a country; we can no longer celebrate Father's Day without being forced to look at it through the lens of the same-sex marriage debate.
'There are lots of dads out there who, while they may be doing it tough, are doing their best for their kids, and the team at Dads4Kids wants to honour and encourage dads to put their families and children first.
'To be clear, it was and is not our intention to enter this debate at this time through these advertisements.

'And what, you might ask, is in these 'political' adverts? They feature a father singing a lullaby to his baby. It is that simple.'
The group were reportedly unable to re-cut the video, to include a political 'authorisation tag,' as they did not have the resources.
The organisation has since restricted access to their website and social media, apologising to followers but stating it was necessary 'to protect ourselves and our families from the expected response'.

Former Prime Minister Tony Abbott called the decision the latest example of 'thought police,' according to The Australian.
'If you don't like political correctness, vote no, because it's the best way you have to stop it in its tracks,' he said.
Others hit back at the videos removal online, with one person writing: 'Can you believe it! Dads4Kids Fathers Day ad with a dad singing and dreaming of his kids future has become political'.
Dads4Kids have released 13 different television campaigns celebrating Father's Day in the past.

AN EARLY childhood activist has been labelled “offensive” after suggesting Father’s Day be renamed ‘Special Person’s Day’ so kids without dads wouldn’t feel left out.
Dr Red Ruby Scarlet, an activist with a doctorate in early childhood studies, is pushing for the name change to the annual holiday.
During an interview on Today Tonight Dr Scarlet denied it was case of excess political correctness.
“Why are we calling this political correctness when in fact it’s about our rights?” Dr Scarlet told host Rosanna Mangiarelli.
She went on: “There’s a lot of Australian research that has actually informed a lot of international research ... that has demonstrated children’s capacity to be really inclusive once they know about these ideas and they think, ‘Wow, why are people seeing this as a controversy?”
Dr Scarlet, who insisted that was her real name, said that many families without fathers supported the idea.
“We have single parent families, satellite families, extended families, lesbian and gay families,” she said.

New South Wales Liberal minister David Elliott attacked the idea to rename Father’s Day on Facebook.

Her ideas were met with a stern rebuke from New South Wales Liberal minister David Elliott, who called them “rubbish”.
“Can’t believe that someone who professes to be ‘enlightened’ would advocate such crap,” Mr Elliott wrote on Facebook.

“People still celebrate fatherhood even after their father and grandfathers have passed away, in fact for many people Father’s Day is a wonderful time of reflecting and remembering.”
He went on: “Dr Red Ruby Scarlet — you are the offensive one. Maybe we should start a campaign to address that.”

Woolworths have joined the ultra pc brigade

Quote:
SHOPPERS are outraged over a Woolworths mud cake that hit shelves on Father’s Day with icing that read “Special Person’s Day”.

The photograph of the cake was uploaded to the Woolworths Facebook page by a Queensland father on Sunday. It was quickly reshared by dozens of others who called the supermarket giant out on failing to recognise Aussie dads.

One man commented: “This is a disgrace and total disrespect to all fathers in Australia today ...

How dare you Woolworths?”

Another wrote: “Please keep Father’s Day to celebrate Dads, and don’t disappoint Australia with your political “special person” cakes.”

One woman said the cake was a “slap in the face to all the wonderful dads”.

“If you want to support a “Special Persons Day”, do it on any other day! So disappointed that you would make this divisive political statement,” she added.

However, others said they disagreed with the backlash against “Special Person’s Day”, saying not all Australians had fathers in their lives.

“There may be other people in their life that may have to take that role on. I truly celebrate that you have created a cake saying “Special person’s Day” because for every family that does not have a mother or father around and someone else to fill that massive role, they are 100% a very special person. Well done Woolies!” A woman wrote.

Another congratulated Woolworths on “taking into consideration other people’s circumstances”.

“My son doesn’t have his father around a very sad day for him in fact but you turned it into a positive by providing a cake acknowledging a special person so he gave that to his uncle to say thank you for being a special part of his life, all round a happy day instead of a sad one,” the woman said.

A Woolworths spokesman responded to customers over Facebook, saying the contentious photograph had been cropped out not to show other cakes that contained “Happy Father’s Day” messages.

The contentious cake was surrounded by others containing Father’s Day messages.
“We’re currently looking into this display with our store teams. We want to reassure you that we’re helping all customers across Australia celebrate Father’s Day as seen from our store displays, products and recipe ideas. Cropped out of this image are a range of decorative cakes that have different messages on them, including ‘Dad’ and ‘Happy Father’s Day’. Thanks again for sharing.”
