"Three British men have pleaded guilty to sexually assaulting a drunk Malaysian woman during a stag do in Singapore.

Khong Tam Thanh, 22, Le Michael, 24, and Vu Thai Son, 24, were all initially charged with raping the 23-year-old".

They are South East Asians based in Britain. Nothing to do with being English. I don't know how the Daily Mail's editors miss these gross errors before they go to print.

Just slack work practices we'll have to suppose.

Exactly.

They described these three as 'British', which if the names had not been revealed we would assume were of Anglo-Saxon ancestry. British soccer hooligan types.

Both my brothers were born in North China, but the sharp-eyed locals would spot their names and realise that they had absolutely nothing to do with being 'Chinese'. Similarly they would realise that my father was not one of them despite being able to speak flawless Mandarin without an accent from the time he was a small boy.

There are suburbs in Sydney which have a high percentage of Pacific Islanders where obesity statistics are astronomical, but in reporting the statistics as an average of the Sydney's population nowhere do the statisticians use anything other than the term 'Australians'.

Deceptive nonsense, of course, but it's deemed to be 'racist' if you should happen to mention that the dice are heavily loaded with Pacific Islander statistics, in much the same way that these Vietnamese based in Britain should by no means be described as anything other than your quintessential Britisher.

'British' has become an almost meaningless term from when I lived in the UK.

If these three Vietnamese kids are 'British' ~ then so too is every Australian whose Head of State is the British Monarch.

The sub-editor wrote the headline in which he cited these three South East Asians as being 'British', with meanwhile the author of the article blew this fictional nonsense out of the water when he roll-called their names as the offenders.

There is the official PC version of these blatant anomalies, and then there's the pub version which calls "Bullshit!" on a lot of it.
