can I ask a question of a gmod.
Aug 12th, 2017 at 6:40pm

as you may know setanta  I cannot post in feedback...so please dont send this question elsewhere...

there is a thread in relationships regarding a member  moderator

I was under the impression personal comments in sigs and even titles of threads were not acceptable..

I am complaining regarding this thread  because it is personal and derogatory  to a member of this forum...
and I think it should be deleted .. someone has tickets on themselves and thinks its their god given right to put people down....

It's pretty obvious from this very Thread why cods is unable to post in Feedback.

what makes it alright is subjective. You're complaining to a mod about something that is within the rules. You can find out who made any quote in any of the signatures if you know how to use google, do you whinge about that?

you're just not happy cause fungus is on the receiving end.  Grin Grin

I've pretty much asked BOTH subforum mods to not make threads paying out on each other, I've tried to use Aussies rule about members names in titles to remove names, I cannot dictate what a subforum mod can do. I can talk to them, poke them in the face with reason, try a little arm twisting, but that's about it. I do think it's pretty poor form to use the power you have as a subforum mod, every other member doesn't have this luxury, to make protected pay out threads but there is only so much I can do about it but a mod should be above that kind of behaviour.

No special power is required to start a 'pay out' Thread.  See this one as proof of that.

ahhhhh so you noticed.. well done aussie....

so you dont like anyone talking about a thread you set up??

you can dish it out   but cant take it of course..

did you notice   the title???....

no names just gmod could be anyone of them..

its not easy getting the attention of a gmod......for me at any rate.....and as your thread was in public.. I thought this one should also be in public.. Roll Eyes..

did you also notice  I didnt make any personal remarks about yourself....

no nasty name calling  just a plain old simple question about the behavior of certain people on this forum...

maybe you should take a good look at what you say aussie   and realise it is not always appropriate as set has pointed out... he cannot control a member mod.

he kind of expects better of them... Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

http://www.wisegeek.org/what-is-a-forum-moderator.htm

Quote:
If the tone of a forum becomes hostile or starts to move in the direction of personal attacks, the forum moderator usually has the discretion to lock the discussion to prevent heated, interchanges. He may also be able to hide discussions he deems unworthy of further discussion. Conversely, topics he feels deserve further examination can be posted indefinitely by the moderator even if they garner no comments.

In this case it's the moderator making personal attacks -
which is exactly the opposite of his duty.

Yes Cods & here are some further duties:

http://work.chron.com/moderator-duties-21978.html
Orderly Conduct

Quote:
It is the responsibility of a moderator to maintain order during discussions and to see to it that all participants behave with courtesy. Forums involve the exchange of ideas whereby participants air their views and sometimes engage in debates about the identified topics. Therefore, there is a possibility of the discussion becoming unruly particularly where the forum topic is controversial. Moderators order the forum by keeping the discussion civil and constructive. They share the rules of the forum, which may prohibit abusive language, derogatory comments and such other offensive behavior.

Once again the moderator here is acting in the opposite way expected.

In this case it's the moderator making personal attacks -
which is exactly the opposite of his duty.

exactly   and it encourages ganging up....as set has mentioned   one usually expects better of those in charge...

some folks use their miniscule power as a weapon....

Once again the moderator here is acting in the opposite way expected.

well lucky for us bobs it isnt all of them.... Smiley

Fair enough ... wouldn't expect it.

Just, a suggestion for all of our sakes, bear the thin skin in mind when you go about defending yourself from slander?

I know Agnes often starts it ... but it seems to me to be an unfair fight, for a number of reasons.

I learned when I was very young that it was not wise to pick a physical fight with elder brother.......for a number of reasons, the principle one of which was that he was better at it than I was.  It took a while before I got and accepted the message....but I did.

Indeed. But i bet your brother was kind enough not to do you any lasting damage while he taught you that lesson?

Oh...I reckon that has been achieved.   It is a simple lesson and very old one....don't poke a bear unless you can deal with the consequences.

'You pull a tiger's tail, he lashes out."

Even normally very docile bears have a line in the sand.

Yes, but we are not bears. We have evolved to assess the force needed to block the stick.

Or lack of force.

Any 'force' used has been what was required to deliver the message.  Some people are slow learners.

Mothra, I know what you are saying.  I (when I was Admin) used to take the same point at PA when there were relentless attacks on a female Member who also posts here.  My comment was, "What satisfaction can you get by besting a three legged dog."

It never succeeded, because the dog was so dumb she kept coming back for more and more.

Whatever variable you have in mind, the person cods is referring to is well aware of a simple step which can readily be taken, and she will no longer have my adverse interest.  Further, her ban will be removed immediately in that event, even though she has posted she could not care less about that.  I have said many times...the ball is completely in her Court, and she is Mistress of her own destiny.

No Setanta, you are wrong.  I have not posted relentless malicious lies, some of which were made with the specific intent of having Members suffer a ban.

Do you think that's going to happen, Aussie?

Do you think this way is working?

It's an imposed impasse, designed that way, Aussie would not do what he requests of others to be allowed to post.

No Setanta, you are wrong.  I have not posted relentless malicious lies, some of which were made with the specific intent of having Members suffer a ban.

Mothra....I dunno if anything is working.  Don't care much either.  I have extended her an opportunity, and it is hers for the taking.

No, I am fair dinkum cods.  The instant Agnes does the right thing, her ban will be lifted.  I am not ordering her to do anything.  It is 100% her free choice, even though she has said she is not interested in posting in  Relationships.  If she is not interested, why do you give a stuff, cods?

"The right thing" that you hold in mind should not matter. People have told fibs about me, "the right thing" to me is to not GaF, even though I may point them out, and let my wider interactions speak against them.

That's pretty much exactly what I have done, but because you have buttons others do not have, your 'wider interactions' are more influential.

If you have something practical in mind, just spit it out.  What do you want.....Agnes unbanned from Relationships....what?

I have never used my buttons to penalise what has been said about me and consider myself fair game considering my position.

Edit: You know what I consider practical, you choose not to believe it is.
Edit2: Whoops, yes, that would be a start to manning up.

Neither have I and so do I.  Have a look at the Threads in Relationships where I am the 'fair game.'

Ban stays until Agnes does the right thing.  Further ~ I'll ask you what I asked cods.  Agnes herself has said that she does not care about the ban....so why do you give a stuff?

You seem to think that a ban reversal is evidence of 'manning up'......let's see you unban Unforgiven.

I don't, I'm commenting on the way things are done by some, not you alone, and my opinion on them. Agnes should man up too but being of the weaker sex, that may not be feasable. Boy I'm gonna cop it now!  Grin

Cods, it seems you simply will not accept some things as factual, but I’ll try yet again:

Quote:
NO YOU CLAIMED SHE SAID SHE WOULD TELL THE FORUM ANNIE HAD DIED... I ASKED YOU AND MONK REPEATEDLY TO SHOW WHERE SHE DID THAT.. AND NO YOU DIDNT...ITS OVER NOW i DONT WANT IT DRAGGED OVER AGAIN.. I AM TELLING YOU HOW SHE FELT AFTER YOU AND MONK KEPT BLAMING HER...IT WENT ON FOR DAYS AND PAGES.....

I made no such claim, and no-one did.  Fact is, Agnes did allude to the death of Annie, and I showed you the post many times.  Here it is yet again:

Quote:
Now this is a lie Aussie just told in his sewer- he said that he was going to Annies place in America to meet AiA  at her door - he threatened to really cause bodily harm to AiA when he turned up at Annies door- not because he gave a single shiit about Annie but because he hated and still hates AiA that much- he offered to book flights and pay for a trip to America at a pre designated date and time- all with the assistance of Annie supplying him with Info to carry this out- now what would we call this everyone- what kind of obsessive and what kind of "man" goes to these lengths- you guessed it ! A  real life  st---er ! this makes him a danger to anyone on any forum he is on- Annie in the end became very wary of Aussie because she realised she dealing with a nutter and with drew from the conversation- Annie was a class act- but she was dealing with an nasty clown who knew no boundaries- as you can see he has admitted to it but has tried to white wash his own behaviour and even if you believe what he says- still who does that!! ?  But what he didnt say was what his real intentions/ motivations  were for going to America to "assist " this lady- because he sure made them as clear as day to all of us  that he was going there to assault AiA!

AiA was of no threat in the slightest to Annie- he was a friend of Annies in fact-

As I have asked you before to do…..note the
past tense
.

As a consequence of what Agnes posted, (several times similar stuff) Monk felt he had no choice but to make public the fact that Annie had in truth died.  He did.  He was unhappy he felt forced to do that.

That is the full extent of what happened, and LOOK at how you have blown those basic facts out!

Quote:
HAS SHE BEEN HERE MAKING DEMANDS OF YOU FOR A COUPLE OF DAYS....UMMMMMM...?

not that I have seen....she was  very low in spirit  the last I spoke to her  which was friday....have a go at me if you have the need to bring someone down....

No-one has been making demands of anyone for a couple of days, cods.  It was you who started this Thread.  The fall out is at your feet, no-one else’s.  I have no idea what you mean about ‘spoke to her.’  I have no idea about ‘harm’ either.  If you had not started this Thread, there would be no current discussion about Agnes.  You brought it up.  You need not have.  If you had an issue, all you had to do was send a PM…not also make some public drama.

Quote:
So.....let's have this proof, alternatively let's have your apology and resignation from The Tavern.

Not out of spite at all Cods.  Agnes made malicious false allegations, said she had proof….and I called for the proof (which she never produced as usual) or for her apology and resignation.  She offered neither.

Quote:
you always have an answer

Yes I do, because I do not bullshit.  Agnes would do well to follow that example.

Quote:
she doesnt think she has done anything wrong or anything worse than what you have done...

will you apologise to her???>............well will you?.

I have zero to apologise for.  Agnes has, unless of course you reckon it is okay that she try to have Members banned by posting malicious lies about them, for example, that they had used socks to circumvent bans and therefore had to have longer bans imposed on them.

Take off your rose coloured glasses cods, and see what everyone else can see.

OK SO WHY DID YOU START A DRAMA WITH THAT THREAD ABOUT THE TAVERN MOD...WHY DIDNT YOU JUST SEND A PM...

YOU DO SEE WHERE I HAVE EXPLAINED WHY THIS THREAD IS IN THE OPEN... DONT YOU?????...
Quote:

So.....let's have this proof, alternatively let's have your apology and resignation from The Tavern.

Not out of spite at all Cods.  Agnes made malicious false allegations, said she had proof….and I called for the proof (which she never produced as usual) or for her apology and resignation.  She offered neither.

SO LIKE I HAVE SAID A THOUSAND TIMES

TWO WRONGS MAKE A RIGHT IN YOUR WORLD.. Angry Angry

nasty revenge its n othing else but payback...

quote] you always have an answer

Yes I do, because I do not bullshit.  Agnes would do well to follow that example.

Quote:
she doesnt think she has done anything wrong or anything worse than what you have done...

will you apologise to her???>............well will you?.

I have zero to apologise for.  Agnes has, unless of course you reckon it is okay that she try to have Members banned by posting malicious lies about them, for example, that they had used socks to circumvent bans and therefore had to have longer bans imposed on them.

Take off your rose coloured glasses cods, and see what everyone else can see.
[/quote]

you have ZERO to apologise for  Roll Eyes Roll Eyes produce what you have accused agnes of doing to monk...

I have nothing more to say to you... its like talking to a brickwall.. this thread was not directed to you anyway it was to a gmod....kindly leave it with them....

you cannot provide the evidence  you claim agnes made... and this thread is about you making PUBLIC DRAMA THREADS ABOUT HER>>
finished.

Nothing was done TO Monk, Cods, and no-one said otherwise.

Agnes posted this after making a couple of other indirect hints at the passing of Annie:

Quote:
door - he threatened to really cause bodily harm to AiA when he turned up at Annies door- not because he gave a single shiit about Annie but because he hated and still hates AiA that much- he offered to book flights and pay for a trip to America at a pre designated date and time- all with the assistance of Annie supplying him with Info to carry this out- now what would we call this everyone- what kind of obsessive and what kind of "man" goes to these lengths- you guessed it !

Note the
past tense
.

Monk was concerned about the intent of Agnes and so made a public statement confirming Annie had passed.

Simple as that.

That isn't why you can't post there Cods. There is no rhyme or reason to why people are blocked from Feedback.

You don't have to break any rules. You can be blocked from a forum, banned or suspended - not because you've done the wrong thing, but just because some people with influence don't like you. All you can do is stay out of the way of those people who like pressing buttons. These forums are simply mini hierarchies like any other organisation.

There is no such thing as free speech. We might think we should be able to say what we like, but unless we are cautious, we can inadvertently restrict the free speech of someone else who has the ability to complain louder than we can.
