Tick bites
Aug 12th, 2017 at 3:28pm

I heard yesterday about a distant relative who has been slowly degenerating for about two years because of a simple tick bite.

As it was told to me, the tick was removed pretty quickly but nevertheless the infection or whatever it is has spread through his body, affecting vital organs even the heart. He has also had a couple of operations but still is unable to work. And he's still a fairly young man.

I always thought ticks were what cats & dogs & cattle got.

This one scares me. I'm surprised PETA hasn't bred them en mass and released them into the genpop.

When I get a tick.
I try to get rid of it asap.
Petrol in a lid-cap kills them.
Because 'mostly' if you try to take them off alive.
Their head detaches and can dangerously keep burrowing into your skin until it hits a nerve.
Use a sharp 'point' knife to dig into skin and flick it off from the head first.

Obviously, the tick will have injected some of its 'nasties' into the skin system and having a little lump after is the usual go for a week.
Use anti-bacterial and other creams on the bite site.

Of course, if you get a really rotten tick and its been latched for quite some time. You are going to feel pretty rotten.

My last one was on the back of my neck.
It was there long as I managed to scrap it off with a long fingernail and got the head too. But my neck was a tad stiff for a few days.

Nasty little ****ers.

I thought I saw where they were freezing tics as a method to remove them.

I prefer napalm.

Freeze/burn - same thing.
Most people have a bit of petrol around home somewhere so that's easier than waiting at a GP's for the freeze off option. That could take many hours of waiting.

My remedy for Mosquito bites and any other bites is to put a dab of 'Deep Heat' on the site.
Sometimes - 'irony' works  Wink

I think the freezing helps keep the nasty stuff inside the tic, not in your body.

I have a tube of freeze I got from the chemist.

Freeze is the only way recommended now.
