Scott Bannan is a name very well known in the Logan area. Born locally, Scott has lived here his entire life and is a true local, married to Linda with 3 children Kirra-Jane (16), Keanu (14), and Levi (10).
Scott left high school to pursue a Rugby League career. However, when he signed with Logan Brothers he took up Thai Boxing to get fitter in the off season. He enjoyed the challenge and changed sports and went on to win 12 Titles including 3 World Professional Titles and in 2015 was inducted into the Muay Thai Hall Of Fame.
During his career he fought as Scott ‘The Cannon’ Bannan but also gained the Nickname "The Peoples Champion" which he holds as his greatest accolade.
Scott can be trusted to fight for the people of Logan...
Scott is also The Queensland Promoter of The Australian SuperCross Championship.
The SuperCross is an awesome way to showcase the area. The events bring over 8000 spectators per race to the area along with all the International race teams and Privateers and 100's of Thousands of viewers through our TV Coverage. Its a massive economic boost for the area and something that Scott and his team love doing. "We really put the area on the map globally. People call Jimboomba the Home of SuperCross which is really cool".
Scott has changed this entire sport. "SuperCross was getting worse and worse and we made it better because we listened to the riders and fans and brought the sport back to the top level. I made mistakes along the way, but I put my hand up and owned the mistakes and changed and evolved along the way, all through listening to the people and I'll approach Politics the same way, by listening to what the people who vote for me want".
"I never thought I'd get into politics and if you asked me 5 years ago, just would have started laughing, but I talk to a LOT of people and no-one is happy. If everyone was happy with the current and previous governments I wouldn't be running for the seat, I'd just keep doing what I'm doing but I know the area better than anyone else running for the job. If you need someone to stand and fight for you then I'm your guy".
Scott has shown determination and dedication in everything he does. He takes nothing lightly and gives 110% in everything.
Throughout his sporting career Scott has also owned and run a successful Concreting Company which has operated mainly throughout the Logan region.
Working with the same builder for 10 years he has worked extensively throughout the region speaking with everyday residents and noticing problems in Logan.
Scott has shown determination and dedication in everything he does. He takes nothing lightly and gives 110% in everything.
The Logan area is the forgotten area; from the roads to public transport, employment and sport. The Logan electorate needs a candidate to stand up and fight for them and that's what Scott does better than anyone and he has the track record to prove it.
"I'm representing One Nation as all the Candidates are first class. They’re all real people. They've run businesses, run farms, lived in the real world, had to spend their own money and been accountable for their own mistakes because their families depended on it". Scott believes the major parties have lost touch of reality as it's been a long time since they've lived in the real world and they just keeping sinking the state into more and more debt and turmoil.
They've had their turn and year after year and both parties get worse and worse. "We might not have that much Government experience but I don't see that as a bad thing. Everything needs to change, and the state has to be run as a Business and we all have plenty of experience in doing that". Scott believes the state is a business and the voters are the shareholders. "If the majors party’s ran a business like they ran the state It would have gone bankrupt 20 times over".
Scott will be a part of a team working together to really make a difference that's long overdue. For all of us.
