I'm always amazed how Musicians, Actors, etc - who don't really make an impact here, suddenly hit it off over in America and suddenly we have to accept that they are 'great' and we should all love them.

fact is we do have great talent here but the industry doesnt support them- that is why they go to the US Jasin- no one here believed in them- the aussie cringe is still alive and well- why dont we think our artists are worth supporting?

Hammer, are you hinging your entire argument against SSM on the principle that traditions shouldn't change?
I believe some shouldn't. Marriage is one. I bet you'd defend abos to the death if I suggested spearing punishments should be abolished?

So you think, seeing as marriage is all about tradition, we should marry girls off at 12?

Or is it okay that that bit changed?

Aren't we talking about marriage here. 12 years old. That's Saudi Arabia.

wasn't that long ago it was England too .... good thing we have tradition ehhh

In Medieval and early modern European societies, the age of marriage remained low, with documented cases of brides as young as seven years, although marriages were typically not consummated until the girl reached puberty (Bullough 2004). Shakespeare’s Juliet was just 13, and there is no hint in the play that this was considered to be exceptional. The situation was similar on the other side of the Atlantic; Bullough reports the case in 1689 of a nine-year-old bride in Virginia. At the start of the nineteenth century in England, it was legal to have sex with a 10 year-old girl.” [2]

That we are a heterosexual species is not tradition or custom or bigoted invention.
