Yeah maybe, but there was a lot of garbage music around back then too. After 1959, Elvis went down the toilet. Bobby Vinton, Paul Anka, Cliff Richard, Petula Clark, Hermans Hermits, Gerry and the Pacemakers, the Doors, the Monkeys, Don Mclean, they all stank, and there were plenty more where they came from. When I was in High School, I would go around and around the radio dial trying to find something that wasn't schlock. 60 to 64 were very lean years. 64 to 67 there was a burst of good stuff, but even the Beatles did some rubbish like Yellow Submarine and Obla di bla da. The Stones went over to Disco music about then. Whether we liked it or not, we were growing up and soon had kids of our own. It was over. Musicians with any integrity dropped out of the commercial scene and were content to produce edgier stuff.
