But then I'm not female, nor am I . . .not that there's anything wrong . . ., so I'm not interested in males with wiggly hips.

I never liked his music.

So why all the fuss especially when he's been dead for 40 years or something?

I've never liked him either.

Well, I liked his movies, but not his music (except for maybe one or two songs).

To call him the 'King' is a little over the top.

He wasn't even a songwriter.

But hey, if he makes people happy, good luck to them.

Give me Elvis Costello any day.

Ah, well there I must disagree with you.

I think Lennon/McCartney were among the most innovative songwriters of the 20th century.

Some of their songs were pure pop, sure.

Brilliantly written, though.

And then you get stuff like Come Together, Don't Let Me Down, Happiness is a Warm Gun, the Abbey Road album etc.

Great stuff.

And, they weren't boy band wannabes.

They were all songwriters, and all played their own instruments.

Ringo's drumming is quite unique, and McCartney is one of the most skilled multi-instrumentalists around.

Boy bands hire songwriters and studio musicians to do all the real work.

Elvis doesn't impress me, although he had a few good songs, mostly done better by other people later on.

But the Beatles a boy band? You're kidding, right?

Watch this ... tell me it's not genies:

Don't forget While My Guitar Gently Weeps or For the Benefit of Mr Kite,

but we could go on & on & on & on because that's how good they were over a short few years.

I agree. I think he was incredibly overrated. He didn't write his own songs he didn't play his own instruments.
I guess he has more in common with movie stars where people obsess over him simply because he is good looking and famous.

You must be referring to their early years.
From 1966 onwards they were truly innovative geniuses. Albums like Sgt Peppers changed music forever and, unlike Elvis, they wrote and performed their own music.

Even early Beatles, a lot of it not to my taster, was still genius. And entirely groundbreaking.

And some of their early songs i love to bits.

Three and a half minutes of substandard musical drivel

I get it, back in the day they wasn't a lot of choice and mediocre musicians like the beatles got a lot of airplay. But popular does not mean good.

Absolutely.

So much more than just a pop band.

Brilliant songwriters, and great musicians.

Anyway, here's some more for BigHole:
