People like The Mechanic, Mr Hammer, et al. are destroying Australia, and we'd be much better off without them here.
If they insist on condoning and perpetuating fear, hatred, division, and death, let them move to a less civilised country that will accommodate their primitive needs.
Most importantly, they insist on telling porkies. Homo and the Mechanic are two posters who systematically use fibs to propagate their exclusive, elitist agenda. It's an agenda that's totally against Australia's interests. Their vision for Australia is backward, insular and shut-off. It's a vision that would lead directly to the poverty experienced by South Africans during the economic sanctions of the Apartheid years.
Not only do they tell porkies about their vision, they avoid all discussion of its social and economic consequences. They are completely blind to this. Their fear and hostility creates denial of the most basic economic realities, such as:
1. Australia's immigration has led directly to economic growth. We've had 24 years of growth due to immigration. Immigration creates jobs in housing construction, education and other services, such as health, retail and food.
2. Globalization and tariff reduction has led directly to massive price cuts. Goods such as clothing, electronics and building supplies have come down by over 100% since the 1980s in real terms. Financial deregulation has led to more capital entering Australia, and remember, the Australian economy is driven by foreign investment.
3. Without immigration, the economy would spiral into long-term, generational recession. Australia has an ageing population. If we didn't import doctors and nurses and IT consultants and many other specialist professions, the cost of these services would spike. If we didn't import these skills, many areas of the economy would be unsustainable. Australians would need to travel overseas for treatment, as many do for cosmetic surgery or dental services, for example, to countries like Thailand and India.
4. While the number one source of migrants to Australia is still Great Britain, we can't sustain an immigration program without non-European migrants. Europe also has an ageing population. While the European economy stays strong, less people choose to migrate. The White Australia Policy was discontinued in the 1970s, when the post-war European economy had all but recovered from WWII and was no longer shedding migrants.
5. Migrants, and in particular, refugees, make excellent workers and citizens. They do the jobs no one else wants - hence 711s staffed almost solely with Indian and Asian students. Those in the process of applying for visas are far less likely to commit crimes and have their visa applications rejected.
6. Australians, on the whole, see themselves as global citizens. We love travelling. It's almost a right of passage for kids to do a gap year travelling and living overseas. We provide the world with major talent in business, academia and entertainment. Rupert Murdoch, Germaine Greer and Russell Crowe are just a few names known around the world. Australians - and Australian businesses - are all over Asia and the developing world. Despite our small population, Australians are on a par with British and American ex-pats in much of Asia. When our racist sentiments back in Australia don't get in the way (the Curry-bashing story was one major obstacle to our reputation in India), Australians are respected as intelligent, practical people - capable of getting things done, and good to do business with.
7. Australia does not have the capital, the markets or even the labour force to become a self-sustaining economy. Like many developed countries, we are now a service economy. Australia could not return to the tariff-driven manufacturing economy of the post-war era even if we tried. Back in the 50s, Australia relied on British and American investment, such as Vestys in agriculture and Ford and GMH in heavy manufacturing. The British and American economies have since changed direction. Britain integrated its economy with Europe. The US abandoned its gold reserves, floated the US dollar and lost its terms of trade with the rest of the world. Manufacturing has now shifted to East Asia. Without importing most of our goods, exporting most of our crops and mineral resources, and without importing much of our skilled labour, Australia would be an economic basket case.
These are basic economic facts. Australia has never been economically self-sufficient and has always relied on immigration. The only way you can counter these facts is by using lies.
The health of a country is just about economics dear. The division multiculturalism brings is hurting us socially. I doubt you'd have the guts to crap on about me if those Muslim cretins succeeded in bringing a plane down. And have you ever wondered who's benefitting most from multiculturalism- the rich. The lower classes are competing for jobs. It sure isn't helping them. Drongo!
