Extreme bad taste.

Remove the video.
At least respect Aboriginal culture.

"In 2012 Gurrumul had conferred upon him an Honarary Doctorate of Music by the University of Sydney, and was often styled as 'Dr. Yunupingu' thereafter."

And well deserved.

Correct.

I saw him perform once, but I don't own any of his recordings.

Zappa is more my style, but that doesn't mean I don't recognise other talent when I see it.

Taking me to an Adele concert would be a form of torture.

However, I recognise the fact that she's a talented singer.

Dr Yunupingu was very talented too, and well deserving of his Honarary Doctorate of Music.

46 is way too young.

It makes me cringe when people with honorary doctorates use the title.

You don't hear of Dr Kermit the Frog, even though he has that title, do you?

Or Dr Dannii Minouge, Dr Kanye West, and my favourite DR Shane Warne all of which have the same as Mr Yunipingu all "well deserved" I presume.

So on the TV news this morning his audio or vision isn't being used for cultural sensitivity yet he's being referred to as Dr. LOL.

He's not without talent, but I think he's over hyped because he's a blind indigenous man.

Well, when I first heard him I had no idea he was a blind indigenous man.

I didn't find out until just before the concert I attended.

I still can't see how anyone would find that funny.

A talented man is dead, at a very young age, and all Gordon can do is use his death as a means of pushing his own racist agenda.

It's really quite disgusting.

This thread wasn't suppose to be about you ... or was it?

By having vision and speaking a person's name, you are impeding them.

It's bad enough Aboriginal Australian's being regularly ethnically profiled, over statistically being incarcerates, dying way too young, and so on.
This last insult is a step too far.

Come on, put away your racist hate ... just for today ... and delete the videos.

It's not even a little bit about my beliefs, Gordy.

I wish you could adopt so conscientious a view point. But alas, i've never seen any even remote evidence from you that you would be capable of doing so.

“May he have many happy travels among his ancestors.”

Sort of like saying Rest in Peace when we know the person is gone and the body will rot in the earth.

So happy travels is a nice way of saying RIP for an aboriginal.

Aw gawd this bloke died young because of a childhood infection.

The NT Labor government wants to spend $50mill on a useless "Stolen generation " museum.

Perhaps if they spend the 50 mil on better care we would not have the 17 year life expectancy gap.

But labor want to suck up to the 10% black arm band aboriginals and not really care about the rest.

It wasn't his ... so your memory is stuffed.  Grin

He is the nephew of Yothu Yindi frontman Mandawuy Yunipingu.

Mandawuy died of renal failure as a consequence of diabetes at age 56 in 2013.

Gurramul has died of similar liver & kidney disease aged 46.

Too young for both but it's a very prevalent cause of early deaths in our Indigenous population ... even in remote communities where you would think their diets may be a little more natural with less access to junk foods etc.

You wanker it's not part Gordons culture or belief.

And there are many many videos & documentaries shown, even on NITV that show footage of aboriginal people who have died.

Each show is announced with a pre-warning that it contains that sort of footage.

So Aboriginals who choose not to don't have to watch it.

You just seem to be doing the culturally sensitive PC grand stand.  Roll Eyes

He was involved in writing it. He is down the list of co-writers with lead singer Mandawuy first mentioned.

None the less he was involved. The input of each member to the song was not broken down.

He was probably in the right place with the right people. Those boozy beach sites are no more than pubs under the stars, with as many drinkers as you'll get in any Sydney pub.

He was surrounded by people speaking his own language.

Where else should he have been? Living in the penthouse suite of the Sydney Hilton?

Hardly.
