I think I have only got over 200 4 times in the time I was playing. Got the holes on my league bowling ball redrilled last year. I was considering taking the game up again.

These days, I can still hook the ball a bit. Not like in my teens when I was skinny and made it look easy to get a good spin going. Doing a work social last year, I was beaten out by a few of my co-workers. I was really out of practice. I might go this Sunday and get some practice going. A former co-worker of mine took up bowling in a league. She basically challenged me to confess my top score, thinking that she had done better. When told of my personal best, she stood there somewhat stunned. But she would obviously better me at a game today.

I find that to get a good 'strike' - I just 'fling' the ball down fast like a 'whip' action and it more slides down the alley than roll (which gives it deviation of movement) and in a more accurate 'straight' line to where I want it ...usually right in the middle. The extra fast force also gives greater movement of pins against one another, resulting in them all going down.
