A billion years? 2/3 or Australia is craton—stable.

How can you say it'll be safely stored anywhere beyond the next 50 yrs? The world is far different to what it was a centruy ago, let alone 1 billion years ago.

Geologically, not really.

geopolitically?

So we shouldnt do something, because we might be invaded?

In a time of universal deceit — telling the truth is a revolutionary act.

No evidence whatsoever it can be attributed to George Orwell or Eric Arthur Blair (in fact the same guy)

No, you shouldn't do something that you cannot guarantee for life.

Besides, if you add up the cost of safeguarding the waste for the next billion years, it's not even close to being cheap.

More likely to be invaded if AGW keeps warming the globe.

Like replacing coal fired generators as they reach end of life with nuclear. Doesn’t mean we don’t continue with renewable energy.

Can’t see why a suitable site for a nuke plant could not be found in FNQ, power FNQ and some of the NT.

Somewhere on the other side of the Great Divide, with access to water, there is a sh1tload of uranium up near Townsville to stock it.  Smiley

Didn’t know about the shitload of uranium near Townsville but I haven’t been north of Gladstone. Certainly worth investigating.

Problem is, that the deposit sits just above the Burdekin dam and no-one will allow that to be contaminated.  Smiley Smiley

they don't have to give us one. We already have one. Lucas Heights.

We know how to build them if we wanted to go that route.
