Greg, would you let kids sit around a campfire or BBQ?

You're starting an argument you won't win.

I'm going for dinner now.

When I return, I will make you look quite foolish.

Before you make me look foolish, read this. http://burningissues.org/ws-more-damage-ts.html

After you finish remember a cigarette is probably a 1/8 gram of plant matter, like wood.

Don't google before you answer.

I'm sure it's not good, but it comes down to frequency of exposure.

There are always smokers in the non smoking areas near hospitals, most of them look homeless or that kind of look.

Poor doctor,  he should have just called a security guard

He should have. They offer nicotine patches so you don't need to smoke in hospital. Don't blame bad behaviour on them being a smoker. There's enough bad behaviour to go around.

People are complaining about getting a whiff of a little bit of 1/8 a of a gram. The products are the same but a wood fire burns how many kilo and how long do you sit around it? Even when it's just glowing, like a cigarette it's giving of the same chemicals.

Would I advise people not to smoke? Sure, can't be good for you. But trying to demonise them is what I find unacceptable.

I Don't connect the violence with smoking but smokers feature very highly in the ranks of selfish behaviour. One example is littering which I reckon the majority of smokers do.

I seriously hate it because it stinks.
How's the winter wood burning up your way?

Exactly.

No doubt the doctor looked like 'Johnny Public' to the smoker for not being in uniform, but a rebuke from a uniformed security guard would have elicited from him a more contrite attitude.

Do we.know if the doctor scolded him or simply informed him he was smoking in an inappropriate area?

They do, I don't like it. I don't. My wife carries a little container and keeps he butts in it till she can empty it appropriately. I've been at parties and asked where the bin is and have been told by the property owner who were smokers to just throw it in the garden, I said nah, it's a floodplain, it'll end up in the river. I don't often smoke when I'm walking but if I do I'll carry the but to a bin and I smoke rollies. I don't like littering at all and even pick it up if a bin is at hand. The worst littering around here is fast food crap.

Not every smoker is a wanker that litters, just like a lot of non-smokers are.

+1 to you but I reckon you're the exception. The streets, beaches and oceans of Sydney are covered in ciggy butts.

I've even stopped my car when people(passengers) have thrown shyte out the window and told them to either pick it up and put it on the floor(of the car) for me to throw out when I get home or walk.
