NSW on track for 1 million guns
Jun 17th, 2017 at 5:54am

New South Wales will soon have a million firearms by the end of the decade, a rate of growth that a Greens MP warns could encourage a local version of American gun-ownership culture.

New Police Firearms Registry data shows an extra 65,000 firearms were registered in NSW in less than two years, bringing the state's total pool of legal guns to 915,000.

If current growth holds, there will be more than a million guns registered across the state.

"People are often shocked when they hear how many guns there are in NSW and they have every right to be," Greens MLC David Shoebridge said. "We must not go down the US path of more and more guns until we are so saturated with firearms that people start demanding guns to defend themselves from guns."

Jeeezus fkken christ, this belief that registered gun owners are all potential mass murders is wearing pretty fkken thin.

There are more gun now than there were in '96, but you are more likely to be killed by a crazy fkkken muslin in the streets of Sydney than a registered gun owner.

Why? Because registered gun owners are not the violent sociopaths howard and his ilk are trying to make out.

It's the unregistered guns people need to worry about and I hate to think how many there are in south west Sydney.

No but I see almost nightly on the news about them spraying houses with gunfire and randomly shooting in open areas with children around.

We always did, but they were not the focus of howard's gun laws.

But to cover up that fact registered gun owners are not and never have been the problem, we have these fkkheads posting this sh1t.

What about the gun amnesty?

Apparently no money will be paid but
if you're found with an unregistered gun the jail term is up to 14 years
& the fine up to $280,000.

That's a bit tough if it was grandads rusty old .303 that
you didn't know about in the garage when you inherited the property
after he died.

A. You don't get to control the debate.
Children of the owners of the nearly million legal guns in NSW are at risk. The Gun Lobby is trying to turn this into a little America, where gun caused slaughtering is par for course.

B. There were no lies in my post.
You attempting character assassination shows you are shooting blanks. Excuse the pun.

Anti-violence children's charity welcomes gun amnesty but warns gun industry aggression needs to stop.

Today the Justice Minister Michael Keenan announced there'll be three month national gun amnesty from July 1, giving people the chance to hand in unwanted or unlicensed guns without retribution.

It's the first nation-wide gun amnesty since the devastating 1996 Port Arthur Massacre.

The amnesty has been welcomed by the Alannah and Madeline Foundation, which was set up by Walter Mikac whose wife and two daughters were shot in the massacre.

But the Foundation's CEO Lesley Podesta told Jon Faine talking about guns is a scary prospect in itself.

"The aggression from the gun industry is extraordinary," she said.

Ms Podesta said she and her staff are regularly 'trolled' whenever they speak about gun control in Australia.

So the youtube 'evidence' you posted had nothing at all to do with Australia and was just a distraction from the truth. Some may call it a deceptions which is lie by another name.

BTW the main reason that anti-gun hysterics get trolled is the fact they are lying cretins and deserve the heat.  Smiley Smiley

Guns returned in domestic violence cases

FIREARMS are being returned by police in a majority of domestic violence cases where one of the parties has a gun licence.

Figures obtained from the NSW Police firearms registry under freedom of information laws show up to 2309 licences were suspended in domestic violence cases from 2008 to 2010 under sections 22 and 23 of the Firearms Act. The figures show only 512 people lost their gun licence over the same period under section 24 of the Firearms Act because they were subject to an apprehended violence order.

Only once in the two-year period did the Police Commissioner use his power under the act to revoke a gun licence because he deemed the person not ''fit and proper'' to hold one.

The chairwoman of the National Coalition for Gun Control, Samantha Lee, who obtained the figures from NSW Police, said many women dropped domestic violence charges out of fear and weapons would be returned to offenders. In other cases, a domestic violence charge may not be made out.

Increasing the amount of guns in Sydney homes equate to further entrenching sexism.

You are blood sport entrenched, so the video is for other readers who will rationally search the reams of evidence of people being killed and injured by gun violence across the planet.

And nice of you to reinforce the gun lobby trolls.
Violence on whatever level is their nature.
