The thing is, devoutly religious people, aren't going to admit that what they've believed in all their life is false or evil; that kind of dissonance would turn people's worlds upside down.
I watched a video on BBC once of a young British Muslim giving an interview and a bystander admonished Sharia law, and she replie: "do you want to talk about Sharia law?" Ultimately, what ends up happening is that Muslims affirm that Sharia law 'is no different' from the status quo - that the institutions of parliamentary democracy are an Islamic thing.
