She said behavioural scientists had attributed the explosion on the BP-operated Deepwater Horizon rig to groupthink and confirmation bias among key decision-makers in the lead up to the explosion that killed 11 people.

That bit is correct. If she thinks more ethnic diversity would have helped she is deluding herself. Crap like that happens regularly in China and India. We used to get upset if 100 people died. That we now get wound up over this sort of incident on the other side of the world just proves how rapidly our workplace culture is changing. She is the epitome of the empty-headed groupthink she is blaming.

Well done. Would you mind highlighting where it says diversity?

Thinking outside the box.

Not changing your skin colour. Or becoming a one armed black lesbian deluded hippy. Or making lack of qualification for a job the primary criteria. That would be group think. Like I said, Yassmin is displaying the exact attributes she is criticising.

You want me to explain how thinking outside the box is the antidote to groupthink? Or that middle aged white men can do it to?

Do you think middle aged white people make up the bulk of people who can think outside the box?

But you have failed to evidence that Yassmin  is "displaying the exact attributes she is criticising".

She is saying that diversity is the antidote to groupthink. As if sticking some black Muslims in there will fix everything. Of course, this is exactly what you would expect her to say, because it is the currently accepted groupthink among deluded hippies.

Why do you assume she intended for "black Muslims" to be be part of the panel?

It could mean anything. She was just sprouting groupthink.

You're the one ascribing to her what she thinks.

Do you do this with people often, FD?

But all this aside, what did you mean when you initially agreed with Yassmin's sentiments?

I am not attributing any thought to her. I am attributing the absence of thought to her. She was sprouting meaningless groupthink waffle.

Stepping delicaltely over all the thoughts you've attributed to her, would you care to explain why Yassmin is using groupthink?

Also, i know you really don't want to say, but why did you agree with her at the outset?
