I live alone. So, home alone is basically 99% of the time. The other 1% is when I have visitors or a burglar.

Normally, my time is spent watching dvds, internet, computer games, tv, sleep, or eating.

Well, I DO go out from time to time. I'm not a recluse. Although with all my windows closed and security cameras focussing on the yard, you might think so.

Home repairs/painting/cleaning/improvements ... gardening ... cats & chickens ... approx. 1.5 hrs TV each day ... PC on all day as a permanent feature in the lounge-room whether I'm at the keyboard or not ... kitchen ... laundry ... workshed ... multiple cordless and corded power tools ... family ancestry research ... electric bike trips ... Bunnings ... shopping ... yakking with neighbours ...

... "Oh, but don't you ever get lonely?" they ask. Never. Not once in my entire life have I ever felt I needed a 'partner' to fill a void. The people I pity the most are those living in unhappy marriages with someone they either don't like or who they couldn't give a rat's arse about.

The single mum I know whose offspring have grown up and left the nest told me she wouldn't dream of getting back into the lifestyle of sharing her home with someone. She loves her new-found freedom far too much, she said. I know another two women like this. Children gone, live alone, and LOVE the freedom of no longer having to play care-taker and domestic servant to husband and children.

Some people do well as loners, most do not. And those who do not, have to be very lucky to find a really suitable companion. Personally, I enjoy sharing my experiences.
