The other lie NBN Co tells frequently, FTTN has an upgrade path to FTTH. This is totally wrong and they know it—definition of a lie.

There is not enough fibre to the node cabinets to allow the upgrade.

The node cabinets are not in the right position to be converted to fibre hubs

So more fibre would need to be hauled to the node cabinets then the electronics of the cabinets gutted and replaced with a fibre hub. None of the electronics can be used for FTTH. The batteries in the cabinets would have to be removed and disposed of (replacing these batteries every so many years is yet another cost of FTTN) and the power disconnected: FTTH is passive, GPON, Gigabit Passive Optical Network. Unlike a node, a fibre hub can work even if totally flooded with water.

The node cabinets are vulnerable to being hit by an out of control car, fibre hubs are tiny and placed differently so not vulnerable.

So all the $60Bn wasted by NBN Co will be ripped up and scrapped.

Huge waste! Nearly $30,000 for every person in Australia! That is waste, that is corruption because all the problems with FTTN were predicted. Telstra copper is rotten and too thin and so FTTN won’t work well.

Sure, one of my nieces is in a new subdivision, her copper is good and so is her NBN performance tho only a bit better than ADSL. But the copper will degrade with time. Most people are on older copper. Crap.

Left conduit everywhere instead of making it as obscure as possible. Do you know where or who I can complain to. It was an Optus connection.

already tried NBN and optus .... NBN sent me to optus, optus transferred me from one department to another for about 1.5hrs then hung up on me. I was to tired to call them back that same day.
I'll give Optus one more shot before I go to the telecommunications ombudsman. One installer installed connection into the WC. It's against the NBN's own rules to install into a wet room but since installers get paid the same per install, regardless of how long it takes, they look for the quickest option.

Optus HFC needs to be overbuilt. Have a look at the options they put in:

FTTH (only obvious choice) they claim is $4400 cost per premise (CPP.) This is the artificially inflated Turdfull crony price made by not allowing for reductions in cost and by adding $700 of OPEX into FTTH CAPEX. Of course, we now know the CAPEX and OPEX for FTTN are higher than that stated in this document. Copper remediation for one is 10x greater than originally forecast. Note that FTTN CAPEX has hardly decreased, FTTH rollouts always show big decreases in CAPEX, just ask Turdfull how his investments in French and Spanish etc FTTH rollouts are going!

Then they base revenue for FTTH on 1 year, for FTTN on 1.3 years. Even so the net costs are so close anyone but a Turdfull crony would say “We will put in FTTH because we won’t have to power it and maintenance costs are a pittance, FTTN needs power and copper has high maintenance costs.”

The Turdful cronies of course overbuilt Optus HFC with FTTN. Good luck with that!

We are paying for crap, unreliable, slow internet (FTTN, NBN HFC) nearly as much as NZs do for real broadband. And idiots STILL support FTTN!
