Thanking service providers
Apr 26th, 2017 at 2:05pm

I always make a point of ringing a service provider, private or public, who I feel has done a good job for me and asking them to pass the message on to the particular people involved.

As an example, I've had occasion to ring and thank my local council twice recently: once when I had to ask them if they could fix storm damage to the road outside my place and once for the great job the blokes did on the annual clean up.
Not that these things are above and beyond what they are paid for, just that it spreads a bit of goodwill when what they mostly hear is complaints.
You can tell that by the almost astonished reaction you can hear that someone is ringing to thank them.

Same goes for private companies. When a product or service is excellent, let them know.
Several times I've rung Aldi customer service to do just that.

Everybody likes to know their work is appreciated.

Know the enemies of a civil society by their public behaviour, by their fraudulent claim to be liberal-progressive, by their propensity to lie and, above all, by their attachment to authoritarianism.

... but that leads to demands for higher pay ... which in turn leads to our rates being raised to cover the cost of their increased wages ... which in turn means more suicides among old age pensioners who can't afford their bills any more ... which in turn leads to ....

You should be ashamed of yourself.

No need to apologise. As with yourself I'm also happy to praise people when they've done a good job well beyond what they could have gotten away with.

I'm a long-time fan of the program 'Undercover Boss', and whether it's filmed in the US, Canada, or the UK what is revealed time and again is that the lowliest of workers would very much appreciate it if they were occasionally told by the executive staff that they were doing a good job.

I hate the way the Aldi checkout workers sit down.
Looks like they're lazy.

I don't like the look of it myself, but I agree with it as an alternative to standing for hours and developing backache and sciatic nerve problems which in the end costs the employee her health and job, the management compensation payouts, and the customers higher prices.

Yeah, I have wondered about the sitting down but never thought them lazy:  at my local ALDI they are forced to stock shelves in between checking out customers.

While we're talking about supermarket checkouts, ˇdoes anyone else hate the dividers you put before and after your stuff on the belt? I put the dunny paper on first to make a buffer zone then build a wall of canned tomatoes at the end.

Where do you put the pads and tampons?

I'm not saying try are lazy, but they look lazy while they're sitting down.  ALDI creeps me out a bit.

I'd make a little cubby house under the paper towels and hide them there.

Most men are at least a little embarrassed by purchasing them ...

That's as obvious as your introduction of crass junior High School sleaze, as usual.
