Good for you, Sprinty!

In Jan ’79 I was in Vienna and saw Beethovens one and only opera, Fidelio. Then I saw that Mozart’s Die Zauberflote (Magic Flute) was playing on the Thursday. So I remained in Vienna an extra 2 days. Saw and enjoyed the opera. Cost me DM300 for the train trip Munich to Rotterdam, second class—my Eurailpass had expired. Worth it!

While in Munich I visited Dachau concentration camp and Schloss Neuschwanstein. Heaven and Hell.

That's interesting, Monk, I was in Vienna a few month's later and saw "Norma." We were given seats in the third row, so we could see all the goings on in the orchestra. A great fanfare to begin included a few solo bars on the harp. And then as curtain went up, the harpist stood up and wheeled her great iron framed harp off to the right wing, complete with squeaky wheels. I guess she had an important gig across town.
