A paradoxical truth?

the more you fail, the closer you are to success.
the only constant is change
the more you learn, the more you realise you dont know
the more you hate a trait in someone, the more you are avoiding it in yourself
the more something scares you, the more you need to do it

and

the more you argue with someone, the less likely they are to see things from your perspective   Wink

So in other words not truths, just musings.

People are living longer because of advancement of science, and its not only medical science.  For example, in the old days, if you have a disability, if it is serious enough, you will die of young age.  Where as now, there are machines that can help you walk, work, and even substitute your organ functions - like hearing, dialysis, breathing even.

Doctors do much more than just operations.  Operations are a big component of what doctors do, but only a fraction of it.   There are other areas: like psychiatry, occupational health and safety, preventative medicine, and of course chronic illness and pain management that do not require a knife nor antibiotics.

science cant answer the really big questions though.
you can call it musings if you want and just worship at the altar of science.

but , this is merely using science to remain disengaged and, here we go again, to remain lazy.

science will never be able to tell you what career to pursue.
science will never be able to tell you who to get into a relationship with.
there will never be a sicentific study that tells you why you shouldnt supplicate to women if you wish to remain attractive.
science cant construct a double blind crossover trial to show that an interdependant relationship is better then an independant or co dependant relationship.'
science wont be able to tell you why its a bad idea to outshine your boss, why you should have mentors above you and people below you who you are mentoring.

and because science cant do these things, people (fat steves and people who think they are scientific) will just follow the path of least resistance, ignore these questions because no one can produce a peer reviewed study  and that path of least resistance becomes  the highway to failure.
you will need more then science to climb the narrow road to success  Wink

Moron of the highest order.

All vague meaningless things, that science doesn't answer because thats not what its designed to do.

vague and meaningless?

thats how i would describe a lot of science .

for example. scientific studies showed, (by showing pictures of faces to 1000 university students) that having a symmetrical face makes you more attractive to the opposite sex.

now who do you think is going to do better with women in a nightclub.

a guy who spent $10,000 getting plastic surgery to fix his symmetry or a guy who just learnt the behaviours (and science cant teach you these) of being confident, funny, self amused and cocky

Its not a comparison. Those studies were just on the face and only the face. You can't judge the personality of a picture.

Yep, true idiot.

if we accept that science is the idea of putting up a hypothesis and then testing it, i would put up the following hypothesis.

the scientific revolution, the internet, modern medicine, modern food production etc etc  have not led to an increase in the peace and contentment of the average citizen in the street,

thats what i observe ,

i think Bhutan has the highest index of happiness and the place has about 3 black and white TV's.

dont worship science my friend

You do realise you have to test your hypothesis, how do you propose to do that?

And according to the World Happiness Report you are completely 100% wrong.

Norway was number 1.

Bhutan was 97. Australia was 9th http://worldhappiness.report/wp-content/uploads/sites/2/2017/03/HR17.pdf

Salt in diet - it should be low. no it should be higher. Scientific studies using animals rather than humans.

Lo fat v fullcream milk.  A new study to look at whether low fat milk is better for you. You would think that this study would have been done.

The first one where did anyone say it should be higher?

And the second, there wqas a paper published in Circulation last year on this. They found that full fat products reduced diabetes risk, but the conclusion was that when people used low-fat products they tended to replace the fats with sugars.

Its real agenda was to scream
'GLOBAL WARMING!'
at whoever holds the purse-strings down there in Canberra.

Just the phrase 'March for Science' is a dead giveaway that it's another Socialist wank.

**

We're all still waiting for the '
March against
Islamic provisions for domestic violence against Women!'

It won't happen, of course. Our Leftwingers love their Rightwingers.
