Looks more like they want to support what brought us what we take for granted today. Ever flown in a plane cods? Used a stove, had a hot shower, been treated by competent doctors instead of witch doctors, taken antibiotics, had a flu vaccine?

Ahhh
Doctors

If it were not for penicillin, doctors would still be walking around shaking rattles and wearing beaks.

Doctors are, on the whole, butchers who rely on the human body to repair itself.
Only chemists who have discovered ways and means of helping, have truely contributed to the health of society.

Doctors hack, jab, remove and mangle bodies.

Only the occasional brilliant doctor actually helps.

Engineering has advanced to amazing levels, FEA once impossible to carry out is now commonplace
3d graphics and engineering theorey is being rewritten every day.

But doctors still simply hack, cut ans remove.

Lets hope you are never in serious car accident. If you are I'm sure that you would refuse medical help and insist on herbal remedies

Ask any doctor.
They will tell you that the best way to live a long life is to stay away from hospitals and doctors.

I cant remember exactly when,
But I remember reading something years ago.
The doctors went on strike, it may have been the UK, cant remember.

But the death rate dropped considerably in that time.
It can therefore be concluded that doctors = death.

Hell they treat cancer by poisioning the body to the point of death, hoping that it kills off the cancer before the patient.

Trillions of dollars are given to cancer research every year.
Doctors make billions for cancer treatment

There will never be a cure, simply because its worth far too much not to.

Before the discovery of modern medicine, life expectancy in Europe was about 35.

I've been told praying works just as well and then you could always pay off the church and buy an indulgence anyway if the prayers fail but I'll stick with science.

I agree with Valkie on this issue, your local GP these days is nothing more than a drug dealer, they don’t even know how to take blood samples anymore they send you off to pathology.

Drug companies visit the GP and offer incentives to distribute their brand of drugs, if the GP meets the quota in 12 months’ time he may get a $5000 bonus or higher, how do I know, one of our friends became a chemist and his first job was to market the drugs for the company he worked for doing exactly what I described above.

As for hospitals when a patient comes in ill they will diagnose the symptoms and administer the cure, but they don’t ask can this patient handle what we are about to give him/her as the cure, they follow procedures even if it means the death of the patient.

If you question them can he or she take what you are about to do, or if you oppose what they are about to do, they will hit you with do you want us to save them or not, leaving you no option but to agree.

What about specialists, mum had a spill towards the end of last year she went into hospital and then into old age care, she had suffered chronic osteoarthritis in her knees for about 10 years and was in a wheel chair, she could just get from her chair to her bed or toilet.

While she was in hospital a specialist with his team of novices came by and picked up her file he then ordered that she be given a whole lot of pain killers and that the next day they would try to make her walk, he boasted that by the end of this treatment she would walk 40 metres.

I was present and I said to the doctor your kidding aren’t you, I told him my mum’s knees were rubbing bone on bone and that she’s lucky to walk 2 metres at best with the aid of a frame.

Of course when we get ill we are going to go to the doctors or the hospital, but if you’re a really old person whose body might not be able to handle the cure or remedy they give you then you might not be coming back.

Heaven help you from doctors and lawyers.

That's a bit of a statistical trick.

Almost all gains in "life expectancy" are due to reduced infant mortality, which is itself due almost entirely to a single advance - doctors realising they need to wash their hands between handling cadavers and delivering babies.

Quote:
Discussions about life expectancy often involve how it has improved over time. According to the National Center for Health Statistics, life expectancy for men in 1907 was 45.6 years; by 1957 it rose to 66.4; in 2007 it reached 75.5. Unlike the most recent increase in life expectancy (which was attributable largely to a decline in half of the leading causes of death including heart disease, homicide, and influenza), the increase in life expectancy between 1907 and 2007 was largely due to a decreasing infant mortality rate, which was 9.99 percent in 1907; 2.63 percent in 1957; and 0.68 percent in 2007.

But the inclusion of infant mortality rates in calculating life expectancy creates the mistaken impression that earlier generations died at a young age; Americans were not dying en masse at the age of 46 in 1907. The fact is that the maximum human lifespan — a concept often confused with "life expectancy" — has remained more or less the same for thousands of years. The idea that our ancestors routinely died young (say, at age 40) has no basis in scientific fact.

http://www.livescience.com/10569-human-lifespans-constant-2-000-years.html

If you lived past childhood 1000 years ago, you might become a much more vigorous 60 year old than you would today.  Again, the conflicting goals of entities and people creates a dilemma - it's easy to forget that pharamaceutical corporations are some of the worlds largest, and they didnt become that way by being altrustic.  A successful corporation is one that siphons off more wealth than the others.

Public health, like running sewers had a lot to do with decreasing the death rate/lengthening life expectancy.

Over the last 70 years in Western countries smoking has become unpopular, that helps life expectancy too.

The only threat I can see: idiot antivaxxers not vaccinating their children. Measles epidemics are already occurring and I dread seeing news about a new polio epidemic. My generation would all have had at least one kid in their class with their legs in calipers. I certainly remember the epidemic in the mid 1950s, the broadcasts telling everyone to wash their hands after having been to the toilet.

science might help you to "survive"
it will not help you to "thrive"

your primitive brain is quite happy with "surviving, not thriving".
your primitive brain is more than happy with the modern situation where you can just pump out a few kids to keep the DNA going and remain mediocre.

and science wont help you find a 'higher purpose' than that either.

evolution, after all , is a scientific fact.
and there is simply no evolutionary pressure on fat steve nowadays unless he puts it on himself.

evolution also tells you to conserve time and energy. dont go running around doing more, the way to spread your dna is take as much from the environment as you can and keep the dna going.

the next big leap forward will be in the 'art' of living and science will not prove nearly as helpful.
science deals with testable truths and cant really handle a paradoxical truth, but many things that will propel people into an upward spiral require things like will power, faith, trust , contribution, humility, perseverance, and science has little to contribute in these areas. religion did but science has sort of become the new religion.
has this seen us move forward?
is fat steve a  superior man to ernest shackleton ?

A paradoxical truth?

In a time of universal deceit — telling the truth is a revolutionary act.

No evidence whatsoever it can be attributed to George Orwell or Eric Arthur Blair (in fact the same guy)

the more you fail, the closer you are to success.
the only constant is change
the more you learn, the more you realise you dont know
the more you hate a trait in someone, the more you are avoiding it in yourself
the more something scares you, the more you need to do it

and

the more you argue with someone, the less likely they are to see things from your perspective   Wink
