ASIO created a Hackathon to recruit our young prodigies to Hack against the Scammers from overseas and here.
Hope they recruited a lot as Australia now receives over 150,000 attacks a day now.  Mostly from China.

Australia of old (last year) would find it hard to deal on the new War Zone (Cyber).
But 'slowly' the Govt is having to turn to the Cyber world (besides just the Media world) - which is now our biggest threat from China, more than Warships.

Australia can be financially 'stripped' now, more easier - especially if it becomes 'dependent' on the American 'cashless' system. People will be mugged $15,000 from their accounts through a dodgy APP or a financial connection to a site. While 'old school' man gets mugged $50 in an alleyway at the most.

Africans and Asians sitting in Net Cafe's around the world cashing in. It's a big successful money making culture now.
More a reason for Australia to set up its own Hackers to get that money back or even make more money for the Economy hacking into those hackers who attack Australia.

...this is where the War will be the most 'changed'. Drone Armadas run by 'nerds' behind consoles at military strategic places and more.

It's the Cyber militaries that will win over the older conventional ones. Remember that Belgian jet fighter that just dropped from the skies? Well that was hacked into mid-air and all systems were shut down. It 'dropped' from the skies.

Can 'Cyber' defuse an entire Nuclear threat to the world and save us all from that future?

But, more than likely, the number isn't "real". In other words, the scammers have programmed that number into their system which is the number you see when they call you, they can usually use any number they want to - even had a few attempted calls from my own landline number earlier this year. lol.

Been getting a few attempted scam and survey calls from mobile numbers lately, they must think people are more likely to answer calls from unknown mobile numbers than landline numbers these days?

They never make it past my Telstra Call Guardian home phone because their 'robodiallers' can't say their name and press the # key when 'challenged' by the Call Guardian and if its actually a real live person calling they don't bother because they know I won't answer and won't call them back if they leave a message (unless it is a genuine call, of course).

If you call the numbers back (which I don't recommend) and you get a recorded message saying "the number is not in service or disconnected" this usually means they're using a "fake" number to call with.

Occasionally, they use someone's real number - either unintentionally or deliberately if they're too lazy to make up a "fake" number with the unfortunate result that the actual real owner of the number ends up getting a barrage of returned "I missed a call from you" calls.

I thought that might have happened when I had those attempted scam calls from my own number but I didn't so I think their dialling system must have had some new "smart" system that changed their number to the number they were calling for each call they made. Very clever, I must say.
