But LW you forget that Shorty set up the Fair Work with Lefty plants and promised faithfully to abide by their decisions.

The Fair Work is INDEPENDENT of the govt and independently arrived at their decision which Shorty all of a sudden refuses to accept.

Mal had nothing to do with it.

So Pauline and Derryn are simply disagreeing with Shorty's Fair Work and they are worried about becoming the victims who took away the poor workers' pay.

The independent senators are there for the glory and the thrill of feeling important but they don't want to take responsibility and then become martyrs hated by society.

The under current in all this is that the CFMEU has decided to use the piddling penalty rates as a stepping stone to the much bigger fight over the much more important ABCC.
