Hang on Valkie. I really want to know what the "artificial means" are through which vegans get their protein.
Two to three servings of meat a week is all that is required in a normal healthy diet.
To obtain the same amount of protein a vegan must consume much more and or eat sizable quantities of nuts, grain, legumes etc.
Soy is often used as a source of protein and soy is produced, not natural. If you have ever been to where soy is made, it STINKS really really bad.
Protein tablets are also manufactured as a way of topping up a vegans diet, especially at certian times or when exercising a lot.
I lived with a vegan for a while, the daily routeen was mind numbing.
And shopping was a nightmare, reading every packet, going over every can.
And the constant guilt trip when I ate meat, no wonder it didnt last.
As I said
I have no issue with vegans or vegitarians.
But stop trying to convert normal people.
We have a right to legally eat meat, leave us alone.
Personally I have a problem with people who rip vegatables out of the ground and consume them WHILE TEY ARE STILL ALIVE.
Plants have feelings, they scream, they feel pain, they have a right to live.
They cannot run away, and many are eaten while still in their infancy.
Horrible, horrible.
You're serious, aren't you?
Hilarious!
Soy is produced so it's not natural? Rrrrright. And factory farming of animals is?
And vegans need to eat much more? "Sizable" potions of nuts, seeds and legumes? Such ignorance. Vegans eat the same quantity of food as everyone else.
You know a peanut butter sandwich is a complete protein, right?
An ordinary bowl of rice and beans?
I don't think you even know what protein is. You are certainly coming across as tremendously ignorant.
20 amino aids form a protein. 9 the body can't produce by itself. These are called
essential amino acids. In order to be a "complete protein", a food needs to contain all 9 of these. You don't however, need to get them all at once, you just need to get them every day.
These amino acids are abundant in plants. Some plants foods like soy, quinoa and buckwheat are complete proteins all by themselves.
And protein tablets are taken by body builders, not vegans.
Seriously, the protein myth is the most ridiculous factoid used against vegans and vegetarians by the truly ignorant.
