Would you support a 5-year term if....?

Would you support a 5-year term for the House of Representatives if: —

1) The Senate was changed so that one-third of the States chose their senators every six years; for e.g. QLD & TAS chose their senators on the second year; VIC & WA after four years; and SA & NSW after six years; and six years thereafter (respectively); or ALTERNATIVELY every year one State chose their senators in full; and six years thereafter.

2) The Senate was reduced in size to 'one-third' of the House of Representatives so that each State would choose 9 senators each (in full); instead of the current 6 senators every three years.

3) We removed the double dissolution procedure, and replace with it nothing, thereby making the Senate stronger and more willingly to assert itself.

4) We allowed for a recall of members and senators through citizen-initiated petition/referendum.

5) We didn't allow increases in pay and perks to take effect until after an election of the House of Representatives has occurred. This means that if members and senators want a pay increase they need to balance their desire to get rich over whether or not to hold office longer at the expense of receiving the increase sooner.

6) We allowed the Senate to amend appropriation and supply Bills; and to submit an alternative budget. If there's disagreement, a mediation committee can be set up to resolve differences. If, after such act, no agreement occurs on the supply Bill, and it's not passed by 15 June, then all MPs and senators will stop being paid until they pass the Bill.

7) We permitted the impalement of MPs and senators who lied on TV....

no, it's a good idea, either states or federal govt. needs to go.

Personally I'd prefer states go as defence etc would be better served if we worked as a whole, but if that can't happen then I'll settle for ditching the feds.... to may pigs at the trough each taking the cream and NONE of which take responsibility.
