Many times I have come through the heads towards Garden Island and last November came in on the Explorer of the Seas.  It is a beautiful trip from the heads to the harbour but, I understand your pain at the view being blocked!   I think cruise ship season only goes for another couple of months - in the mean time, just think of all the money those rich americans are spending in the state!

I'm all for the tourism but Sydney is getting about 300 a year. Apparently at berth they use the cheapest nastiest oil to power their generators which spew out some really toxic fumes.

You did say you want to stop the boats, dear.

You didn't say they can't obscure your harbour views.

Goooood Morning, Sydney Town!  This is Radio 1279 on your dial - for those of you in the business sector, today only, 1219 plus a free tax concession certificate.....internet orders only and stocks are limited to the first 100 paid applicants.... wholesale prices on application for bulk buys.....

Now to the news....

Maybe more at the bow of the original HMAS Sydney.... I can remember when they had Tribal Class destroyers parked there.... Arunta I think ... why didn't they turn one into a floating museum?  Or the Melbourne, or the Sydney, with all used aircraft on the deck like the Kitty Hawk (I think it is)?

Christ we're a bunch of Philistines here....

Mal will replace Australian passports with Israeli passports. Enjoy becoming a suburb of Israel.

Netanyahu got Mal's surrender without a shot or an angry word.

What this country needs is a successful terrorist attack on Australian soil to shut the idiots up and let the grown-ups take control.

Good to see you concur with Longy, Matty.

You are 229 years late. It was beautiful before the closet poms started polluting it from 1788 with their presence.

Yes, but if you want to see the real, unpolluted Sydney, you need to go to Rooty Hill.

Yes, of course he does. All roads lead to 'Herbie'. I've been littering Australia since 1788 with my specialty being tying off the ends of used condoms and placing them a foot off the curb-side where people are queuing at empty taxi ranks waiting for one to arrive.

Cleveland Ohio, that is. I've just been watching a doco on one of your Cleveland serial killers - Anthony Edward Sowell (born August 19, 1959) ... is an American serial killer, identified in press reports as the Cleveland Strangler. He was arrested in October 2009 as a suspect in the murders of eleven women whose bodies were discovered at his Cleveland, Ohio duplex ...

He did say he was sorry, though, which I'm sure his victims' relatives found very comforting.

The question has not yet been answered: WHY is America the homeland of the world's serial killers?

Yeah, I speared a few on my surfboard when I was there in the 70s, then it was off to the cross for some more entertainment. It was lucky I escaped Sydney, I was having to much fun.

Ah, memories memories.  The Venus room, TTs, the chevron, les girls, bourbon and beefsteak, and the Rex.  Backward swimmers till early hours.   What a hoot that square mile was when I was in my 20s!

Barons was the type of place you wouldn't consider going before 4am.

It was like you ended up at someone's house.  An old place with lots of different rooms, big comfy lounges and backgammon boards.

Ah, the seemingly endless sleazly night clubs, the beer, a beautiful women in a mini skirt on every corner and the beer, food all night long!, then up for a Technicolor yawn, a can of fosters on me wheaties and go do it again.

Only been to the cross once. Walking to the train station on leaving, lovely looking girl leaning against a wall in a miniskirt says something like "you and me babe, how 'bout it?" I say yeah, sure, her dull eyes light up, you can almost see the ecstasy of her next taste, then I say but I ain't got no money left. Leans back against the wall and tells me to f#ck off.  Grin

Looks like the cross has toned it down a bit since I was there last.

Don't make eye contact.

I was crossing the road with some mates just near the fountain and a tranny who looked like a rugby front rower on a cheap frock from Target propositioned us. We made some smart arse comments from the other side of the street and it must have had a hormonal rage and chased us down the main street threatening to kill us.

I quickly realized if I made eye contact I had to pay or the pimp would shoot me.

Eye contact? Did I say that? If I made eye contact she was a very puffy eyed cyclops. Did I mention the miniskirt?

I used to live there, but in those days you could walk the streets and not worry about some one-hit wonder on speed, go to a good restaurant and maybe have a good time just walking the streets at night.  I actually stopped a beating of one guy by five or so one night by starting up my motor bike and then skidding to a halt near them.  They ran off..... I picked the guy up and checked him for injury.... funny thing is the girl I was with thought I was the looney and not them... work that out.  She didn't last... a Man has got to be a man.... love it or leave it, love....

Even funnier - he was a Scandinavian sailor and the guys who beat him up were his ship mates....

OK.......

Mate had a Triumph motor bike and we cruised the Cross.. it stalled right in front of Les Girls one night (Triumph carbie), and the guy who was the 'rouster' there - who was characterised in 'The Clean Machine' about corrupt cops - had a huge laugh at our expense and used us as a 'calling card' for people to come in.  I think he was paid by the client or something.

"Yeah - I know all youse bikies!  (who?  us?)  Come on people... these guys are just part of the show - come inside.... blah, blah, blah...."

Had me a Maton CW80/6 - worth a month's pay - came home and some pr1ck had stolen it.. broke in.... could buy one now for $4k.. one up the road in the next town for $1k.. thinking of paying it off, but it hasn't got the original smell the Matons had....  still....

Life is full of stories... when I passed the test for Hot Seat Millionaire, the  3rd Assistant Director - always an asshole - asked me for anything interesting to feed Eddie... I was caught out unprepared, but I have a million stories.... just not right then on demand....  Embarrassed

Ha-ha - took in a pro one night when the infamous 21 Squad were doing their rounds and she had no money to pay them...... just for a while.... no interest from me... I like my women warm and real.... but she just wanted shelter for twenty minutes....

Ah, the old days of the Cross when it was civilised....

The cross truly was a civilized part of the Australian way of life, it is all over now, I wouldn't like to be a young fella these days stepping out like we did in the old days, Muslim gangs, bikies, I wouldn't go out without an M16.
