Bobby's devolved past the stage of losing it.

He has totally lost it.

I deliberately have my backyard with no trees.

Trees wreck houses & sewer pipes & all other infrastructure.
They block light making the area too dark & cold  - especially in winter.
( One of my friends has had to pay out $42K to repair the damage done by trees in his front yard.)

Also - they block your neighbors view.

Me too.  Tree leaves also create havoc in gutters and I have seen what can happen when a tree falls on a house in a storm.  There were a few trees in the garden of our house when we bought it but they're all gone now, replaced by bushes, mostly flowering ones.  There are plenty of gardens around us that have lots of trees, mostly gum trees and pine trees and quite a few well over 30 metres high.  I like seeing trees, but I don't like them near the house.

Quote:
...........
Here’s how it works. It takes six steps.

1. First, you start with soil. We identify what nutrition the soil lacks.

2. Then we identify what species we should be growing in this soil, depending on climate.

3. We then identify locally abundant biomass available in that region to give the soil whatever nourishment it needs. This is typically an agricultural or industrial byproduct — like chicken manure or press mud, a byproduct of sugar production — but it can be almost anything. We’ve made a rule that it must come from within 50 kilometers of the site, which means we have to be flexible.

4. Once we’ve amended the soil to a depth of one meter, we plant saplings that are up to 80 centimeters high, packing them in very densely — three to five saplings per square meter.

5. The forest itself must cover a 100-square-meter minimum area. This grows into a forest so dense that after eight months, sunlight can’t reach the ground. At this point, every drop of rain that falls is conserved, and every leaf that falls is converted into humus. The more the forest grows, the more it generates nutrients for itself, accelerating further growth. This density also means that individual trees begin competing for sunlight — another reason these forests grow so fast.

6. The forest needs to be watered and weeded for the first two or three years, at which point it becomes self-sustaining. After that, it’s best to disturb the forest as little as possible to allow its ecosystem, including animals, to become established........

I have put in these sorts of gardens before

we have 250 M2.

* 4 saplings per metre = 1000 saplings.

Get a machine in to 'amend the soil to 1 M deep'.

I prefer fruit trees. Not quite a forest but I will plant a productive hedgerow around the fruit tree area. Bay trees, rosemary, berries, semi–woody herbs like sage and native plants. Be a windbreak, harbor useful birds and insect to predate pests etc.

Total bull!

I've got a forest in my backyard and it emerged from a sandbank. If there's a massive storm and a large tree falls - it will be cushioned by the smaller trees underneath and around it. All their roots intertwine so it's unlikely that any of them will get uprooted - unless of course there's an earthquake.

I was googling pictures of rain forests not long ago and found a picture of my garden or so I thought until I looked closely and saw there was a fern in the picture that wasn't mine.

Lone trees in a garden might cause problems - but a lot of them don't. If a branch falls - it falls on another tree or some foliage.
