Roots, apart from citrus, tend to stay within the drip line of that tree.

You are stupid enough to fall for a lying charlatan, Booby, so why not plant apple and cherry trees in your backyard? More “survival” food for you. LOL!

Also, if the roof overhangs, it tends to create a strip of much drier dirt around the base of the house. Unless you have a leaky pipe or drainage issues, the roots ought to stay away.

Not hard to manage trees.

In my new block I will plant 20 fruit trees with another half dozen or so later. Eat some fruit fresh, preserve some, make booze with some and just sell some. With the strawbale house I will be locking up a heap of carbon!

I doubt any house has been damaged by a fruit tree!

Plant well away from the house so the roots don’t get into sewerage lines, back yard not front yard.

growing up we had 2 nectarine trees (1 white 1 yellow), 3 fig trees (2 black 1 green), a lemon, a 2 peach trees and a grape vine in a 500m2 yard .. they never caused a problem with anything. We also had a prickly pear along the rear fence that not only tasted delicious, but was useful at stopping undesirables from jumping the fence.

had a friend who once who had a bad habit of handling fruit in a fruit shop as she walked past it. She had never seen prickly pear and decided to ignore the tongs and warning signs, and grabbed two, one in each hand .... she never again grabbed fruit as she walked past  Grin Grin Grin

It's more the giant types of trees that wreck houses & infrastructure.

I deliberately have my backyard with no trees.

Trees wreck houses & sewer pipes & all other infrastructure.
They block light making the area too dark & cold  - especially in winter.
( One of my friends has had to pay out $42K to repair the damage done by trees in his front yard.)

Also - they block your neighbors view.

so basically...

by us stupid humans cutting down every tree in sight we've warmed the Earth?

use leather gloves on one hand to handle them, the other hand you use only to handle the knife and the fruit after you've removed the skin. Cut the ends off first, then slice down the skin on one side and peel it away. the fruit should just roll out. When you cut the skin off, try not to cut through the thorns, but rather cut around them. If you go through the thorns you tend to push them into the fruit and they'll lodge into your tongue or throat. Green ones aren't ripe, look for the red colouring. They're well worth the effort.

So don’t plant those! The second advantage of fruit trees is that they are (mostly) deciduous so you get shade in summer and light comes through in winter. Plant some Booby, more “survival food” LOL!

God you really take the cake, don’t you? Buying all that bloody survival food junk. Bet mice are having a field day in your house! LOL!
