Anna Palmer to appear in court

CLIVE Palmer’s wife is being compelled to give evidence in court as liquidators probe his finances and alleged phony transactions of more than $100 million.

Orders were issued in a Brisbane court yesterday for compulsory questioning of Anna Palmer, as well as senior accountant Derrick Vickers and a long-term business ally of Mr Palmer, Domenic Martino, The Australian reports.

Federal Court Registrar Murray Belcher reportedly issued the orders after Chris Curtis, a lawyer for FTI Consulting, asked that the court be closed.

Affidavits and other supporting material provided to Registrar Belcher were sealed.

Ms Palmer was a director of two of her husband’s companies, Waratah Coal and China First, which put in bids for $100m and $135m against Queensland Nickel shortly before it collapsed last year.

Investigations by administrators, FTI Consulting, later released a report to creditors that the transactions appeared to be invalid and may be unreasonable and uncommercial.

The refinery collapsed in 2016 with about $300m in debts.

It’s believed Mr Palmer or his wife and their associates were unaware of the order yesterday but The Australian reports the Australian Securities and Investments Commission was given notice.

The matter was not publicly listed by the Federal Court.

https://thewest.com.au/news/crime/palmers-wife-ordered-to-court-over-qn-ng-s-166...

Clive Palmer claims a move to force his wife to appear in court over the collapse of Queensland Nickel is designed to intimidate him.
The Federal Court this week granted orders compelling Anna Palmer to give evidence about what liquidators say are highly questionable transactions five days before her husband's nickel business collapsed.
On Friday Mr Palmer told AAP his wife was yet to be served with the orders, and claimed liquidators, FTI Consulting, were "trying to intimidate me".
"It's a bit low to do that to your wife ..." the former federal MP said.
"I'm the responsible one as the chairman of the Queensland Nickel joint venture."
He also suggested his court bid to have FTI dismissed as Queensland Nickel's liquidators may have motived the move.
But FTI Consulting says Mrs Palmer - as a director of two other companies controlled by her husband - signed off on questionable transactions worth hundreds of millions of dollars just days before Queensland Nickel went into administration.
FTI believes the transactions - involving Mr Palmer's China First and Waratah Coal companies - may have been "uncommercial or unreasonable" and not in the best interests of Queensland Nickel.
"Anna Palmer is a director of both Waratah Coal and China First, and was a signatory to the security agreement with QNI," FTI said in a statement on Friday.
"(This) ... is why we are interested in including her in our examinations."
A second round of hearings into the collapse of Queensland Nickel is due to begin in the Federal Court in Brisbane next week.

I cant put the picture of Anna up but you should see the gold she is wearing...
