Trump Smashes every other President in..

Trump Beats Every Modern President’s Total After Raising $100 Million for Inauguration Day

President-elect Donald Trump likes setting records, and this is one record that his fans are going to love. According to The Associated Press, Trump has raised almost twice the money for his inauguration than any other president in history.

Fox News reports that the previous record was $55 million for Barack Obama’s first inauguration in 2009. Trump, meanwhile, has raised $100 million for the 2017 festivities, easily dwarfing Obama’s record.

Many of the larger donations came from corporations like Chevron and Boeing — the latter of which has been a frequent sparring partner with Trump over the cost of the next Air Force One. However, Trump has limited donations to $1 million from corporations, and no lobbyists are permitted to donate.

CNN also reported that one of Trump’s top individual supporters — casino magnate Sheldon Adelson — donated $5 million for the inaugural activities.

Even though corporate donors are a part of every inauguration fundraising drive, that didn’t stop every liberal’s favorite purveyor of slanted news, The New York Times, from bitterly complaining about it in a piece titled “Corporations Open the Cash Spigot for Trump’s Inauguration.”

“This is nothing short of selling access to the president, the vice president and the cabinet,” lobbyist Craig Holman of the liberal group Public Citizen complained to The Times. “This is very unfettered, brazen selling of access. It certainly runs counter to any presidential candidate who was talking about ‘draining the swamp.’”

Wait, a lobbyist from a liberal group wants to take a potshot at Donald Trump? Stop the presses. Somehow, I never remember this sort of article being published against Obama’s similar fundraising back in 2009 and 2013.

Donald Trump likes to go big, and this is going to arguably be the biggest day of his life. He certainly knows how to do it in style — as this $100 million haul speaks to.

WASHINGTON — When Donald J. Trump strides onto the inaugural ballroom floor this week amid the sprawling celebration of his swearing-in, he will have corporate America and many of its titans to thank for the rapturous greeting.

Chevron, the oil giant, has given $500,000 for the dayslong festivities. Boeing, which has been a target of Mr. Trump, pledged $1 million. And Sheldon and Miriam Adelson, giants of the gambling industry, are said to have donated more than that by themselves.

You can mention it if you like.

In fact, here's a link.

Remember this, though:

1. I'm not a Clinton fan, and neither is anyone else in this forum.

2. This is a thread about Trump.

Well, boys...thank GOD we dodged this trainwreck...
Clinton's cash for access diplomacy: Glenn Reynolds
Glenn Harlan Reynolds 10:34 a.m. ET Aug. 24, 2016
Clinton ran a pay-to-play program at the Clinton Foundation while she was Secretary of State.

Clinton ran a pay-to-play program at the Clinton Foundation while she was Secretary of State.

Back in July, Democratic presidential nominee and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said, "there is absolutely no connection between anything that I did as secretary of state and the Clinton Foundation.”

On Monday of this week, ABC’s Liz Kreutzer reminded people of that statement, as a new batch of emails reveal that there was a connection, and it was cash. As the emails, recovered by the public-interest law firm Judicial Watch, demonstrate, people who made donations to the Clinton Foundation got preferential treatment, and access, at the State Department when Hillary was Secretary of State:
The Abedin emails reveal that the longtime Clinton aide apparently served as a conduit between Clinton Foundation donors and Hillary Clinton while Clinton served as secretary of state. In more than a dozen email exchanges, Abedin provided expedited, direct access to Clinton for donors who had contributed from $25,000 to $10 million to the Clinton Foundation. In many instances, Clinton Foundation top executive Doug Band, who worked with the Foundation throughout Hillary Clinton’s tenure at State, coordinated closely with Abedin. In Abedin’s June deposition to Judicial Watch, she conceded that part of her job at the State Department was taking care of “Clinton family matters."

"No matter which party controls the White House, corporations and wealthy individuals open their checkbooks every four years, and administrations reward their donors with private events and other incentives.

"But ethics experts say Mr. Trump’s donors are being given greater access and facing fewer limits on donations than those in other recent inaugurations, despite his vow to 'drain the swamp' of special interests in Washington.

“This is nothing short of selling access to the president, the vice president and the cabinet.”
