Oh there isn't any because it isn't pale faced Aussies doing it   Roll Eyes

Oh i see. Unless you make a disclaimer decrying all of the worlds oceanic atrocities, you've no right to protest about any of them?

Brilliant.

I don't eat anything from the ocean. I condemn shark fin harvesting.

I;m also a strong opponent of shark nets.

Is that ok?

Should i also add, just in case someone comes along and mentions another oceanic violation that i opposed to drift-netting and whaling?

the thread is about people cutting nets in the dark without a care in the world for people who think that part of their ocean is protected..

its the same as someone removing traffic lights in the dead of night.. its bloody dangerous and stooooooooooopid...

protest all you like but why endanger lives.?

tell you what how about all you dogooders coming up with something better.....

Some people can't look themselves in the mirror unless they feel outrage or offence over something and have to make a huge noise over selected topics whilst totally overlooking others.

I think it is a disease and I don't think there is a cure for it.

its the "bleedingheart squad'.. they rattle their chains about something different each year..last year it was muslims...a few years ago refugees...since the boats stopped coming our way.. they barely get a mention anymore..[funny that]...

now its shark nets...when they net proof our entire coast line I would say they have a point... but I dont think thats the case...and the little bit that was netted   was for a very good reason....it wasnt cosmetic...

its a lovely look though being pious.. Grin Grin

You're wrong Cods. People have been actively voca l against shark nets for years.

which country is that then??..

we havent had the real netting for a long time...thats why more and more people are getting taken by sharks..

until it happens to you you wont experience the trauma  and I trust you never do...but I would never take it on myself to condemn people who are only acting in good faith..

I am not that holy I am afraid..

just sayin!

The bycatch from just one hour of one Chinese factory trawler would be more than anything ever caught by NSW shark nets.

As usual, they sweat the small stuff Smiley

So that makes what we do ok?

Interesting philosophy you have.

As long as it's worse elsewhere, we're all good.

It's negligible in the big scheme of things and if it keeps people safe then it's justifiable.

ALMOST 4000 sea creatures have been caught in shark nets lining NSW beaches over the past 20 years, new government figures reveal, prompting calls from environmentalists to immediately ban the meshing.

Of the official count of 3944 creatures trapped, about 60 per cent were sharks and less than 4 per cent were considered ''target'' species (or those particularly harmful to humans) - that is, 100 great whites and 49 tiger sharks.

Sea creatures eh? Got a concise breakdown of species and size?
Seriously, the real effort needs to be put into factory trawlers.

Show me a report listing every last fish. I bet they're counting small species.

Anyway, what gets caught in the shark nets are a drop in an Olympic sized swimming pool compared to what gets caught by commercial fishing.

Yes. Animals are expendable to keep humans safe.
Most of the civilized world agrees.
