If we didn't have the nets more people would be taken and/or attacked by sharks.  Sure, go in the water at your peril as it is the sharks' territory and if you want to invade that do so at your own risk.

The problem then would be that people would go feral and go on a hunting and shark killing  spree and kill every shark they could find just in case it might be the same one who bit poor "Johnny".

It would be a bloodbath and a very unfair one at that.

As opposed to the blood bath that already exists because of netting?

Stop sooking over a few fishies, silly.

And the whales and the dolphins and the turtles etc

I know a decky who works for the Sydney net contractor,  dolphins never get caught. It's mostly sharks and rays.

Any Muslim sharks where you live? Huh

The only whale I've heard about being caught in Sydney was by a drifting commercial fishing net. Dolphins die and wash up all the time, more likely they get tangled in the net after death

And i say that as a person who lives on an esplanade and swims in the ocean regularly.

would you still say that if a son of yours had his legs taken????....

just wondering...we put up all sorts of barriers to protect man..

we have been doing so since time began..

remember moats round castles... Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

you know I dislike traffic lights.. they are always red.. sit at them sometimes giving way to nothing drives me mad...

but I dread to think of life without them..

we live by the sea our major cities are geared to life on our coast line...the nets are in so few places.. they havent exactly put a net round the whole coast line...

try to make it just a little bit safer for the young.
and certain people think its their duty to undo it... Cheesy

and put lives at risk.. how clever of them..

it would have cost a lot of money.. money that may have found a cure for MS or Leukemia but it was spent on netting which will now have to be replaced at more cost...... good one stupidity..

Then you haven't heard enough.

But that's not surprising.

If you live near the sea your vege turds are probably helping to kill the ocean Mothra. Plus your washing up liquid, your house cleaners, your car pollutants etc etc etc. Loads of crap goes straight down the drain and out to sea.

80 Million sharks are killed per year for their fins alone for brain dead cretins to put in their soup or make into a powder for their libidos.   Where is the outrage?

Oh there isn't any because it isn't pale faced Aussies doing it   Roll Eyes

The bycatch from just one hour of one Chinese factory trawler would be more than anything ever caught by NSW shark nets.

As usual, they sweat the small stuff Smiley

Some people can't look themselves in the mirror unless they feel outrage or offence over something and have to make a huge noise over selected topics whilst totally overlooking others.

I think it is a disease and I don't think there is a cure for it.

Oh i see. Unless you make a disclaimer decrying all of the worlds oceanic atrocities, you've no right to protest about any of them?

Brilliant.

I don't eat anything from the ocean. I condemn shark fin harvesting.

I;m also a strong opponent of shark nets.

Is that ok?

Should i also add, just in case someone comes along and mentions another oceanic violation that i opposed to drift-netting and whaling?

its the "bleedingheart squad'.. they rattle their chains about something different each year..last year it was muslims...a few years ago refugees...since the boats stopped coming our way.. they barely get a mention anymore..[funny that]...

now its shark nets...when they net proof our entire coast line I would say they have a point... but I dont think thats the case...and the little bit that was netted   was for a very good reason....it wasnt cosmetic...

its a lovely look though being pious.. Grin Grin

So that makes what we do ok?

Interesting philosophy you have.

As long as it's worse elsewhere, we're all good.
