with all the centerlink audits .  which is bullshit why dont we go back five years for politicians travel perks.  you would be talking mega quids .as i told you last year . da monk is lurking happy new year to all  be lucky

Yes - go back 5 years and send any politicians who had their snouts in the trough to jail.

That will teach those thieving hypocrites.

try being logical bobs if you can..

you are so jail or hang em happy you are losing the plot.

But if a bank robber steals $10K he can easily get 10 years jail.
Why not the same for thieving politicians?

a bank robber usually carries a gun or weapon of sorts.......these people say they are ENTITLED.....

a bank teller is traumatised....we dont feel any pain when these bastards are ripping us off.

when they go TOO FAR like Thomo and Obeid.. then they get jail.. although THOMO is yet to do his time....

I believe if we let them know ... the slightest fraud....

and they will never be endorsed all allowed to run for any govt at any level  again.. EVER...gone.. no appeals
they know full well taking the wife and kids on holiday is not a taxpayer funded entitlement...

How about a compromise? -

1 year's jail for every $10K that a politician steals.

That's more than lenient.

it will still cost us...

they could forfeit their taxpayer funded pension of course....thats worth a try...I think they have to do more than a year to lose that....

I am in favour of a career fullstop.. and the shame that goes with that...

plus redemption... and plus maybe the tax payers contribution to their pension...mmmmmmmmm

they stole from us after all.

Hi Cods,
you're too soft.
We need justice for all those days we wound our weary way to work
through peak hour traffic to pay taxes.

the perks stop on the back bench..

like I said in the other post

every time they get sacked it cost money

it costs us far more to keep the crooked thieves there. And it would cost no extra to piss them off. If they're caught cheating, Immediate dismissal with immediate loss of pay and ZERO benefits or perks. Pay their replacement the same as we would have paid them. It'll costs no more

do ,you know what a bye election costs.??

we never get told these small details..

these ministers have their own staff all of this has to change... it is no small detail. it is no small cost..

we need .. IMO.. to find a way of dealing with this at no extra cost to the already overburdened tax payer...

who ever gets sacked if thats what you want gets replaced by another....who could  also think they ARE BREAKING NO RULES...

someone allows ministers to go to the same place usually with family members in tow over and over again at our expense... and no one asks how come???..

the health minister goes to the Gold Coast 20 odd times in 3 years   and no one asks  what sickness is going on at the Gold Coast.. it is a plague?. it must be an emergency why are we not reading about it???.. Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

what sort of rule book.. makes them think they have broken no rules?????????

we hope at least they are educated and have some sense of responsibility    but they all use the same cry..

I didnt break any rules...
it beggars belief...

send them to the back benches...with no rule book to worry about...

and lets see them lose their endorsement.. at any election...and see them forfeit the tax funded side of their pension..for stealing.....

I would settle for that..

if their rule book is a sham then no judge will send them to jail..and they will walk away free

people forget this is the trouble...

but once they read a new set of rules.. saying one chance and one chance only....and here are the list of consequences.......then we could at least hope in the future its only the very odd greedy  one that is caught.
not like it is becoming...a whole hat full in one swoop..

ask yourself.. how many have been named in the past week or two.. and times that number...lets say by...$250.000..... thats a very low  guess....

but it would be in the millions....and its money for nothing...

even putting them in jail would cost us in the millions...and for what?????

what we need to do is prevent more of the same happening....

thats what they are getting now bobs...they have all the trips and they get then paid for.. then we find out they shouldnt have been paid by centrelink so then we go all out to get it back....in the mean time it becomes a sort of interest free loan.....

I am all for people who claim centrelink when they are not entitled to have it ... to having to repay it...I am all for that...and lets be honest I am sure most MPs are in favor also.. at least I havent seen much jumping up and down about it..

I am not talking about those who were not over paid but still told they owe money..

lets hope there are a few pollies  still losing sleep in case they are found out....what makes pollies stink even worse is they dont need to stoop to cheating

Nothing will ever change, cods.

Both sides of politics abuse the system, and neither one of them is going to take away the gravy train.

They always say that they're going to do something, but once the media back off, they just go back to doing exactly what they did before.

I know a few decent politicians, Steve Irons from the Libs being one, and Ben Wyatt from Labor is another.

Most of the others are just in it for themselves.

They don't give two sh!ts about the people in their electorate - they're just after the benefits.

I know a guy who got into the Senate in one particular state, and when I asked him what he was going to do, he said "sit up the back, hope nobody notices me, and do as little as possible".

Roll Eyes

he probably tried to get on as many committees as possible all extra money you know.

I remember a long time ago..cant recall if it was a Fed member but someone was caught charging for raffle tickets this person claimed he was invited to so many fund raisers and he was always having to buy raffle tickets to show face....and he thought it was ok to get refunded....

its ENTITLEMENTS you see....we only have 150 members why should we have the need to fund an Authority to keep[ them honest...

am I missing something here...do they have to watch all the public servants who have access to cars or even taxis to see they are not ripping us off??????????

now the Authority is going to be independent led by the ones who are chosen by big Mal by the look of things  Roll Eyes and led by an EX MP... and that is supposed to solve any anxiety we may have..... Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

it is funny when you think about it...

because they've continually proven that leaving it up to them doesn't work. Employ 10 people to do nothing but check MP's claims, and we'd still save a fortune after allowing for their wages.

We need a Federal ICAC, and we need it now!

One whose members MUST be in NO way beholden to or influenced by either
politicians, bankers or business, or the whole thing becomes a farce.

One with very broad terms of reference, and with the power to LAY (hahaha)
charges, not merely recommend them. Ditto with reforms, a Fed ICAC must
be able to ORDER that any reforms it may decide upon are put in place, not
just recommend them knowing they'll simply be ignored, defied, or put in a
drawer and forgotten, never be implemented.

It MUST have that authority, or this filthy corrupt 'government' will simply
steamroller it, and carry on regardless.

And that CANNOT be permitted.
