My dad had a Plymouth and then a FJ.

...

Not sure of the model but it looked like this.

...

The next car was a XP falcon.

We had some gooduns.

VJ 340SE Charger e55, 307 HK Monaro, Mazda RX4, XW Ford Futura with a sunroof and no laws saying you could not stand up through it. I guess they were compensation for the Austin and Vauxhall Victor we had when I was really young.

Dad bought this '76 Mustang II used a few years after it was released. That was the only ever sports car he ever bought. He was far too practical for that kind of thing.

The HK Monaro and the RX4 were my mum's cars. The XW and VJ were my dad's.

We did have a dak dak(VW beetle) before those too. It would be a fight between us kids as to who got to sit in that little space behind the back seat.

Dad said this was his first car after uni. I never saw it, of course. The Corvair was known to be "unsafe at any speed."

Your dad just didn't know how to kick start it. If a carrot in front of it's head doesn't work, jam it in the exhaust.

EIC I suppose it should have been. EEC was probably a leftover memory from playing TES games.

Yep. Sepoys. They revolted in 1857. That brought about direct British rule and the Raj which lasted 100 years.

A Mazda 626. Followed by a Mitsubishi dual-cab (which I learned to drive in 1995/1996). I recall some other Mazda in the early 1980s, but can't recall much about it. Parents own 3 cars and a motorcycle. I'm barely able to afford a $10,000 car bought second hand.

HZ Kingswood, 202, 3 on the tree. No aircon and vinyl seats made it super fun in summer. Later bought a brand new Hilux 4x4 which was an improvement except the diesel was pretty gutless too.

At that time, we lived in Sydney, on 19 pounds a week, in a rented cold water flat. I learned to drive in Rome, when I was 30.

First car: An FC Holden paddock-basher.

First roadworthy car: 1955/56 Vauxhall Velox. Basically a Pommy version of the Holden FJ.

The one shown is a ute, but is otherwise identical to mine.

It was a baptism by fire.

I'll say ... I flat out refuse to drive in Rome. I'll park in the outer suburbs and walk thanks.

they say that, on average, once a new car leaves the car yard in Rome it'll take about 15 mins to get your first scratch or dent.

The first car my father had was a pre-war Rover 10.  When we arrived in Australia in 1958 he bought a 1955 Hillman Minx, followed by a 1959 Hillman Minx, a 1959 or 1960 Citroen DS19, 1949 Jowett Javelin, 1962 Austin Freeway station wagon, 1967 Austin 1800, 1970 Holden Premier, 1975 Audi Fox, 1979 Ford Escort Ghia and his last car was a 1985 Mitsubishi Sigma.

My first car was a 1976 Holden Gemini SL, followed by a 1990 Mitsubishi Magna and a 2015 Skoda Octavia.  I also bought a 1962 Wolseley 15/60 12 years ago.

Judging from the rear end treatment and the positioning of the badges, I would suggest that it's an HX (1976-77).

Had a 1969 HT back in my young days - around 1978.

Some asshole had hit my beautiful original EJ Premier, and I needed something to get me to work - 80km away.

The Kingy fit the bill admirably.
