Uber runs over man in driveway.
Dec 3rd, 2016 at 2:17pm

Not good.  Just bad luck?

Link.

Nothing annoys me more than damage done to my Cab and the excuse is that "I could not see because......*insert whatever.*"

Well, if ya can't see, ya don't drive the bloody Cab there!  Ya get out and effn look to ensure you do know what is at a place you cannot see from the driver's seat.

Nothing 'fascinating' about it Nicole Page 2016.  I am condemning the negligence of the driver and the apologist ill informed remarks of that Copper.  Do you have a view on that, Nicole Page 2016?

Sure Oz.

In the pitch black of midnight, a driveway is not a terribly smart place to sleep. Dude was probably pissed.

Yeas, very likely pissed...what are your views on the conduct of the driver?  "I couldn't see Officer, but I drove my one ton + vehicle into a blind spot anyway.  Not my fault, the bloke I ran over and killed was pissed, and asleep.  All his fault, Officer."

If you are a stranger to the driveway, and your vision is obscured, you get out and look before driving in, blind.  (You really should get out and look even if you are not a stranger to the driveway.)  You don't just drive into a blind spot, do you?

What would you expect.  A toddler, a dog, a bloody great log...what?  You cannot see what is there, you do not drive yer car there.  If you do, you cop the consequences.  Your fault 100%.

at one in the morning? NOTHING. The lady who owned the house was in the car, if there was any sort of permanent obstruction that can't be seen she would have told him to stop.

For all you know she  may have asked him to drive in as she didn't want to walk down the drive at 1 am in the dark on her own. Let me guess, if she was your customer you would have said 'no, you'll have to walk', right?  Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

Nah.  I would have got out of the Car, had a look to ensure a blind spot was safe to drive onto.

What makes you think she owned that house by the way (not that it is relevant?)

Call it what you want.  You do not have the driving experience I do.  Cab Owners  are constantly told by a Driver who, for example, reversed into a pole at night, "Oh I did not know it was there."

"Well guess what Fella, it was there and you hit it.  You pay, not my insurance."

No safe, non-negligent driver will drive his Car into/onto a blind spot...even at 3.00 am in the morning.

No wonder cods has had enough.  What does it take to be banned from here?  Cods gets done on the drop of a hat, yet others like Nicole Page 2016 in this very Thread, get, without a ban, to yet again vilify me/my Wife because she is Indian.  You will see the Posts up there, including the snide 'delivery' reference.

See the back ground here:

Link.

She has been suspended for it previously, even apologised for it, and there she is, in this Thread, repeating the dose, and she is still logged on here.

Amazing.

Well GMods, I'll take it my own hands from now on to defend my self and my Wife.  Yer as useful as an ashtray on a motor bike.

Has he now.  Not good enough.  You were banned before for this crap, you even apologised for it...and here you are doing it yet again.  Like everything you post, your apology is not worth a knob of goat schit on a windy hill.

You are a racist disgrace.  Far cough, never address me or my posts ever again.  If you do, I'll be all over you, you grub.  I can happily ignore you completely like I do with another racist grub here, but if you get in my sights, I'll be pulling the trigger.

How dare you even consider that you hold high enough ground to counsel Marla with your phuccked up mind?

Maybe if you stopped telling the mods how to do their jobs five days in seven, life would work better for you.

Most pleased you have me on ignore. Enjoy your evening.

Crap.  You get out of the Cab with your torch.  You use it to ensure there is nothing in your blind spot as was evident from the driver's seat.....usually within a few metres of where the Cab is, given almost all cambered down hill driveways.....and if it is clear, you drive on.

How hard is that?  Better than running over a person who was in that blind spot, yeas?

I drove into everything. No way was I getting out of the car loaded with cash unless I had the area lit up with the cars headlights. Can't do that from the side of the road.

Even into/onto blind spots....places you were taking your vehicle having no idea what was there for the vehicle to run over or into?

Okay, then if you ran over some bloke lawfully in that blind spot, you'd expect to walk away free from any suggestion of negligence, or even criminal conduct?

It was nothing to do with any family bar the Simpsons. It was a comment on sleeping where cars drive. Is it also the train drivers fault when people sleep on the tracks? Not everything is about you.

Forgive me if I barf at that pathetic attempt at trivialisation of your 'Simpson' youtube video.  That was clearly aimed at me, not a train driver.

So Aussie, how does it relate to your family? I was saying, via the Simpsons get out of my way "it's your fault if you get hit" sleeping on a road, driveway, railway line etc. Darwin award.

I'm going to ignore the sheer disingenuousness garbage and get back to the Topic.  Just be aware all, that I can be an abusive prick too, and while others get away with it and get a 'reprimand' or whatever, why shouldn't I?   'Sauce for the Goose/Gander.'

Imagine approaching this, and even worse driveway drop off:

...

At night, your headlights will not show what is in that blind area in the dip.  Even at daytime, the vision you have will not show what is one the ground just beyond/below the dip.

Back to this image:

...

When the Car is on the level footpath, the headlights are pointing into a void or at the top of the garage, and there is zero illumination of the driveway surface after the footpath.

Drive down and run over a lawfully sleeping bloke....hello, possible manslaughter charge.

There's an area in Lismore that no-one delivers pizza to, the milko stopped delivering to. Far too many robberies. It's known locally as Checkerboard Hill.

the only time I ever really was worried was on one delivery. I had all my senses screaming at me as the house was pitch black (looked abandoned) and the bloke, complete with drug addled eyes, was asking all sorts of weird questions about how much money I carried.  As soon as I got back to the shop I put that address down on our DO NOT DELIVER list. I still remember the address even though it was 25 yrs ago.

It can be scary living in a rough area.  I was in Double Bay yesterday and made eye contact with a scary looking woman. She was carrying a loaf of sourdough,  those things are crusty. If she took a swing at me it would bloody hurt.
