Catholic school? All forgiven.

I think you are wrong. My guilt will land me in purgatory and unless enough of you pray for me and pay indulgences to the church, I'm done for.

Perhaps crowd funding is a way out?! Grin

The sum total of my religious expirence amounts to me pretending to be interested in religion for a born again Christian girl I really wanted to root.

Took about 6 weeks of 2 prayer meetings a week and a Sunday service,  usually with a visiting evangelical American pastor. If my atheism is a mistake,  I'm soooo utterly fkd.

Lust and fornication Gordy, you're done for! Perhaps crowd funding for us both.

When I read the OP and the focus on Israel, I saw it as someone not knowing Israel is not just a modern invention. As for king of Israel, that's what we are let to believe the Romans tagged his cross with. INRI.

Not so much Christmas carols.

Indeed, the nation of Israel has been  around an awfully long time. Just some people don't know it.

Untrue, it has been around a couple of times for short periods.

Six times, it is said:

'Born is the King of Israel.'

Whaaat?

Damn straight! It should say 'Born is the King of Israe.'

Given the Carol was allegedly written pre 1948......WTF??

Israel and Judah were two Jewish states.

Not so.

Israel and Judah were two states,      who [combined] comprised of ALL of the tribes of the children of Jacob.

After the death of King Solomon, the [unified] nation of 'Israel' divided into two separate Kingdoms;

Israel was the northern Kingdom

Judah [in Jerusalem] was the southern Kingdom

But 'generically', the term 'Israel' can also mean the [unified] whole people of God.

The 'lost sheep'.

Today, the Jewish people are the only identifiable remnant of the original houses of all the tribes of Israel.

But God knows full well who he will choose as his children as his inheritance.

That, is his purpose.

Revelation 21:7
He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son.

Matthew 15:24
But he answered and said, I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel.

Deuteronomy 32:8
When the most High divided to the nations their inheritance, when he separated the sons of Adam, he set the bounds of the people according to the number of the children of Israel.
For the LORD'S portion is his people; Jacob is the lot of his inheritance.

Jacob = = Israel

Psalms 94:12
Blessed is the man whom thou chastenest, O LORD, and teachest him out of thy law;
13  That thou mayest give him rest from the days of adversity, until the pit be digged for the wicked.
14  For the LORD will not cast off his people, neither will he forsake his inheritance.
15  But judgment shall return unto righteousness: and all the upright in heart shall follow it.
16  Who will rise up for me against the evildoers? or who will stand up for me against the workers of iniquity?
17  Unless the LORD had been my help, my soul had almost dwelt in silence.

It took all that to say what you could have stopped at right there?

Now without spamming, tell me how they were not two Jewish states? The tribes that comprised them mean nothing, there were two states, Israel and Judah, funnily enough modern Israelis take their name from their ancient neighbour state. Judah, Jew.

Not so.   .....a second time.

You don't like verbose explanations ?

OK,         look up the word; JUDEA.

Where was Judea [around 900 BC] ?

And why was that portion of land, called Judea ?

Where was Israel? Should it not exist then?

What happened after they were taken to Babylon? Did either state cease to exist? What happened when  they were released to make a buffer state by Cyrus? A new state? Demolished by Rome and not to reappear until 1948.

Inri was written on his cross when he was crucified. So it's nothing new.
